By Jamie Lovett - February 26, 2018 06:36 pm EST Share 4 Comments 4 While Luke Skywalker may have given up on the Jedi Order, it looks like he may have at least found love in his lifetime. The expanded edition of the novelization of Star Wars: The Last Jedi releases next week, but the novel’s first line has already appeared online. It's a line that offers a new revelation of Luke Skywalker’s life after Return of the Jedi. The line reads: “Luke Skywalker stood in the cooling sand of Tatooine, his wife by his side.” First sentence of the TLJ novel. from r/StarWarsLeaks His wife? Nothing in Star Wars: The Last Jedi indicated that Luke was ever married. Does the novel reveal something that the film left out? It's a little hard to say. Author Jason Fry worked with writer/director Rian Johnson to include scenes from alternate versions of the film’s script. If this prologue is based on a previous version of The Last Jedi’s … [Read more...] about ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Novel Opens With a Line About Luke Skywalker’s Wife

Oscar Isaac says Rise of Skywalker reveals why Poe’s past isn’t ‘squeaky clean’
What makes a Star Wars hero? When audiences first met Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron in The Force Awakens, the dashing Resistance pilot was the kind of guy who would literally give you the jacket off his back. An expert X-Wing pilot and best friend to an adorable ball droid, Poe could do no wrong. Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi threw out a curve ball, reframing Poe’s cockiness as a serious detriment when Dameron went rogue and attempted a mutiny against Laura Dern’s Admiral Holdo. In the process, Poe learned one of the central truths of the Star Wars saga, best put by Alec Guinness in A New Hope: “You’re going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view.” Of course, Poe’s adventures have not been limited to the big screen. Marvel Comics published an ongoing Poe Dameron comic book series set before, during and after the events of The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Another comic book miniseries … [Read more...] about Oscar Isaac says Rise of Skywalker reveals why Poe’s past isn’t ‘squeaky clean’
Daisy Ridley Thinks It’s “Fair” That Star Wars: The Last Jedi Suffered Backlash
By Patrick Cavanaugh - July 1, 2019 07:49 pm EDT Share 0 Comments 0 For better or worse, Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been a defining moment in the franchise, becoming arguably the most divisive film in the series. Nearly two years later, fans who didn't like the film are still voicing their complaints while the film's cast and crew continue to answer questions about its reception from audiences. While there are some fans who voiced criticisms in bad faith, made evident by sexist and racist comments about the adventure, they are in the minority, as there are many level-headed fans who merely didn't enjoy the installment. Star Daisy Ridley noted recently that it's perfectly fair for some fans to not enjoy the movie, given how passionate they are about the franchise. "I wasn't surprised, no," Ridley shared with USA Today when asked about the backlash. "It’s just a different thing. Everyone’s going to have an opinion now anyway on … [Read more...] about Daisy Ridley Thinks It’s “Fair” That Star Wars: The Last Jedi Suffered Backlash
Uncharted: Remastered, revisited, reassessed
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, released today for PlayStation 4, has a few purposes. It makes Naughty Dog's trio of populist action spectaculars available to play on current consoles. It introduces them to what Sony estimates are the 50 per cent of PS4 owners who didn't have a PS3. And it presents these already exceedingly handsome games in a pristine, buttery smooth remaster by Bluepoint Games which, for its sheer polish and attention to detail, must go down as one of the finest game reissues ever. What interested me most about it, though, was the chance to play through the three games back to back, and reassess what was surely one of the most - perhaps the single most - influential game series of the last console generation. Between the release of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune in 2007 and Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception in 2011, Naughty Dog - previously purveyors of cartoon mascot romps like Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter - rewrote the rules of cinematic action gaming to … [Read more...] about Uncharted: Remastered, revisited, reassessed
