On demand TV via streaming services is the new norm, and thank goodness. You can binge watch series and access a huge library of content across platforms like Netflix, Now TV, Amazon Prime, and Hulu. But savvy streamers should be looking to up their game with a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to broaden the scope of what they can watch without being penned in by region-restricted content. An added bonus is that a VPN offers a layer of security for your internet browsing, but as with everything, there are pros and cons to consider, so let’s get stuck in.What are the benefits of a VPN?If you don’t want to share your data with third party companies, you’d like to keep your personal details secure, and are fed up with your internet service provider (ISP) throttling your connection speeds, a VPN is going to be right up your street. Pirates! Can we outrun them? Damn! Well, would they accept a bribe? What? They won’t even consider it? Okay, well, drop the cargo. No? Give them the ship and they’ll let us live? Oh, they’re not actually pirates, they’re just mindless omnicidal monsters pretending to be pirates? Well… I guess I’ll just reload an old save, then. That’s how some games treat pirates. It’s stupid, boring and rubbish. Star Traders: Frontiers is better than that. It’s better than just about everything. The name undersells it. It implies a trading game, but the titular Star Trader just refers to any independent spaceship operator in this universe. Trade is one of many career options, and each can be dabbled in as you see fit. Even this is handled in a different way to comparable games. It’s somewhere between a strategy game and a party-based RPG, but without the tedious babysitting and micromanagement of either. Let’s start at the beginning. … [Read more...] about Star Traders: Frontiers is the best space game I’ve played in ages
When Fantasy Flight Games announced that it would be revamping the Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game, fans around the world let out a nearly audible groan. But after spending a few days with the latest version, titled simply X-Wing Second Edition, I’m convinced that this is the best iteration of the classic tabletop game yet. Combat plays out with the help of a few custom-made dice. But over the years, and as more and more new ships were added to the game, the original X-Wing became severely bloated. Nearly everything that made the newest ships fun to play existed as an aside to the basic structure of the game. Advanced play was a … [Read more...] about X-Wing Second Edition is the best version of the classic miniatures game ever made
A galaxy far, far away is about to look a lot emptier. The slate of new Star Wars movies, once looking fuller than Jabba's belly after a banquet, has been reportedly thinned considerably in the wake of Solo: A Star Wars Story and its relatively low takings at the box office. In fact, it may be time to wave goodbye to any Star Wars stories for the foreseeable future.Collider believes that all Star Wars stories spin-offs are being put on ice (or should that be Carbonite?), so Lucasfilm can put all their attention into making Star Wars 9 the best trilogy topper it can possibly be. It's worth mentioning, though, neither Lucasfilm nor Disney have confirmed the report. That means there could be no Obi-Wan: A Star Wars Story or Boba Fett: A Star Wars Story. For better or worse, Lucasfilm are potentially putting all of their eggs into one basket before moving onto new projects, which is probably for the best in the long run. However, not all side projects have been shelved. Rian Johnson’s … [Read more...] about Some Star Wars spin-offs have been put on hold
Though Solo: A Star Wars Story tells the origin of the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy, and in doing so fills in a lot of the blanks in Han Solo's past, the movie is also loaded with other connections to the larger Star Wars universe.
