When is the partial solar eclipse? The eclipse is set to take place on the morning of Saturday, August 11. The so-called New Moon will partially pass in front of the Sun, covering as much as 65 percent of it in certain parts of the world. This is the third eclipse of the summer. There was another partial solar eclipse on Friday, July 13, and a total lunar eclipse on the night of Friday, July 27.
