Join GameSpot as we celebrate gaming history and give recognition to the most influential games of the 21st century. These aren't the best games, and they aren't necessarily games that you need to rush out and play today, but there's no question that they left an indelible impact on game developers, players, and in some cases, society at large. From Software's Dark Souls launched in 2011 and, at the time, seemed destined for obscurity. The nominees for the 2018 Steam Awards were announced in December, just ahead of the start of the most recent Steam Winter Sale. Now the results are in, and you'll never guess who won! (It was PUBG.) The video below, which was reposted from Steam by GamersPrey, has some cool "thank you" clips from developers, and the full list of winners is just a little further down. Most Fun With a Machine: Rocket … [Read more...] about PUBG claims Game of the Year in the 2018 Steam Awards

I’ve struggled to maintain any kind of roleplaying or wargaming campaign as I’ve been driving my testing group through review products. Picking the top five with tabletop editor Travis Williams was hard, but some products stood out, not just because of how great their mechanics are or how well produced components they have are, but because of how they impacted the market and drove change. Some releases couldn’t be included because they were technically released last year—Shadespire, for example. Although it has had constant releases in its first two seasons, it first appeared in 2017 and has been doing huge work for Games Workshop, standing out as an incredible game but also an incredible … [Read more...] about 2018 Techraptor Awards – Board Game of the Year
