Despite an absence from Marvel's April 2021 solicitations, the publisher's X-Men and X-Factor titles will definitively return in May. Marvel is now showing off the covers of both issues – each of which hint at potential big developments as Marvel's X-Men line continues into the post-'X of Swords' 'Reign of X' era."The two series will pick up right where things left off with new villains, surprising guest stars, and shocking new developments that will affect the entire mutant world as the 'Reign of X' continues!" reads Marvel's description of X-Men and X-Factor's planned May issues.Following a story which picks up threads around the mysterious Children of the Vault from early in his X-Men run, 'head of X' Jonathan Hickman and artist Francesco Mobili will go all the way back to plotlines from House of X/Powers of X, which established the current X-Men status quo."The mastermind behind the current X-Man era, writer Jonathan Hickman continues to evolve the X-Men mythology in the … [Read more...] about X-Men and X-Factor return in May, with Nimrod, Dazzler, and more

Best Shots review – Future State: Robin Eternal #2 turns Tim Drake into a goo-dripping demon
Super-charged with Lazarus Resin, Tim Drake battles every Robin's biggest insecurity while single-handedly dispatching the best the Magistrate has to offer in Future State: Robin Eternal #2. Future State: Robin Eternal #2 creditsWritten by Meghan FitzmartinWriter Meghan Fitzmartin turns Tim Drake into a goo-dripping demon here, haunted by a specter of Batman who whispers Tim's inadequacies into his ear. Immediately, this is much more compelling stuff than the last issue, ably assisted by Eddy Barrows' and Eber Ferreira's visceral and trippy artwork.Adriano Lucas matches their pace with kaleidoscopic color that brings to life the effects of the Lazarus Resin. Barrows' layouts are a highlight here, especially on a page where the silhouette of the Bat forms in the negative space below the panel borders, with the target of Tim's hallucination at dead center of the abyss. Again, this stuff doesn't necessarily play to Tim's natural strengths as a character, and instead, Fitzmartin aims … [Read more...] about Best Shots review – Future State: Robin Eternal #2 turns Tim Drake into a goo-dripping demon
With Star Wars escaping EA, there’s a new hope
A new Star Wars game is in development , an announcement that no doubt got some lightsabers erupting, because for the first time in years it's not being published by EA. Instead Ubisoft is publishing the game, and The Division 2's Massive Entertainment is the developer. EA hasn't made great use out of the Star Wars license, following the ten-year deal it signed in 2013. Since then it's released two Battlefront games, one of which was mired in a loot box controversy, Jedi: Fallen Order and, most recently, Squadrons. It's also cancelled nearly as many, at least that we know about. None of them are bad, some of them are very good, but compared to all the movies, shows and comics Star Wars has spawned in recent years, gaming is a desert. Back in 2019 I suggested Disney should take a page out of Games Workshop's book , and just go wild with the adaptations and spin-offs. There are plenty of crap Warhammer games out there, but Games Workshop's philosophy of letting basically anyone … [Read more...] about With Star Wars escaping EA, there’s a new hope
Silent Hill creator discusses new horror game and shares terrifying concept art
Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama has shared insights into his horrific new project at Bokeh Game Studio. In the video just below, Toyama and other PlayStation alumni share some thoughts about their new project. "The view I have of horror is the everyday life being shaken," Toyama says. "Rather than showing scary things, it should question our position, make us challenge the fact that we're living peacefully. I would like that to be the theme of my next game." Well that certainly sounds suitably horrific for the creator of Silent Hill. Elsewhere in the video, Bokeh Game Studio give a few samples of concept art for their upcoming horror game, which look, well, pretty terrifying to say the least. The likes of insects erupting from human flesh and splintering faces make an appearance. Just two months ago in December 2020, Toyama and several other PlayStation veterans announced their departure from Sony , to form their own studio. This was swiftly revealed to be Bokeh Game … [Read more...] about Silent Hill creator discusses new horror game and shares terrifying concept art
