In 1998, Disney launched the original DisneyQuest. The five-story, 100,000-square-foot space at Walt Disney World housed an arcade and remote-controlled cars, but it also contained some of Disney’s earliest work in virtual reality. With Aladdin’s Magic Carpet Ride, players zoomed down a virtual recreation of Agrabah’s streets. With Ride the Comix, players lived out what it would be like to jump into a superhero comic book. Other attractions — like the cars — weren’t strictly VR, but many dabbled in augmented reality. These were elaborate experiments, with hardware costing hundreds of thousands of dollars and headsets referred to internally as “gator vision,” due to the front sticking out like an alligator’s head. It appears that the new Avengers: Infinity War trailer is almost prepped for a worldwide release in the coming days. Taking to Instagram earlier today, directors Joe and Anthony Russo assured (in their own style) that the wait will be over soon enough. While they did not mention any specific date or timeline, the shared teaser image did indicate as such. Hence, it is completely possible that new footage from the highly anticipated movie will grace the upcoming weekend. It was last week when strong reports claimed that a brand new trailer was debuted behind closed doors during the annual meeting of shareholders for the Walt Disney Company. The Pin Traders store in Disney World’s Spring Marketplace is reportedly selling a Black Panther pin that features T’Challa, the hero of the upcoming movie, wearing a black mask over a white face. The image, seen below, was first reported by The Disney Pin Blog, a website dedicated to reporting on official Disney Parks pins, on Dec. 31, according to the site’s page. (Disney Pin Blog is not an official Disney website.) The tweet below, however, was sent out earlier today. The pin is described as an “open edition pin spotted at Walt Disney World featuring Marvel’s Black Panther,” selling for $12.99. Ryan Mondics, owner and editor-in-chief of the website, told Polygon that the photo was taken by the website’s staff and uploaded by his team directly. The pin is not available online as part of Disney’s official merchandise at this time, and Mondics said the public reaction to the pin has been overwhelmingly negative.
