My perception of time has gone haywire over the last year, so I couldn't tell you if Crusader Kings 3 launched recently or a million years ago, but it does feel like it's been the right length of time for some DLC to make an appearance. There's even a placeholder Steam page for it. Paradox has been keeping schtum about what's hidden away inside 'Expansion Pass 1', but that's about to change. The developer will spill the beans on the first expansion and accompanying free update on March 13, during its Paradox Insider event. There are fewer obvious places for it to expand compared to Crusader Kings 2—it's a big lad—but that hasn't stopped me putting together an expansion list of demands wish list. So while we wait for the announcement, here's what I want from Crusader Kings 3 DLC. Knight life Knights are one of CK3's big new additions, beefing up warfare (and its stakes) with hard-as-nails warriors who also hang out at court. They're great, marrying two normally disparate … [Read more...] about What I want from Crusader Kings 3 DLC

How PlayStation 5 exclusive Returnal is keeping the arcade fires alive
It doesn't really feel like a PlayStation launch without a Housemarque title, whether that's Super Stardust's fine appearances at the dawn of PS3, Vita and PSVR or Resogun's star turn upon the release of PlayStation 4. For PlayStation 5, we've had to wait a little while, but it's understandable why - with Returnal, Housemarque makes perhaps its biggest departure yet with a shift to blockbuster third-person action. We've just been afforded a fresh look at Returnal as part of tonight's State of Play, showcasing the procedural levels, the intense atmosphere and gunplay as well as a surprise shift to a PT-inspired first-person interlude. It's a lot to take in, so we spoke through it all with Housemarque's own Mikael Haveri and Returnal director Harry Krueger. It's great to have Housemarque back. I didn't quite realise it's been four years since your last release, which is quite some time for you guys. And a lot has happened in between. Early last year, I'm sure I wasn't alone in … [Read more...] about How PlayStation 5 exclusive Returnal is keeping the arcade fires alive
The making of Bravely Default 2, a return to form built on demos, mistakes, and Octopath Traveler
While Bravely Second: End Layer continued the story of the original game, Bravely Default 2 is now hoping to continue the story of the franchise some six years later. The third (and slightly confusingly named) installment of the series will launch on Nintendo Switch this Friday, February 26, and producer Masashi Takahashi hopes to see it establish Bravely as a full-fat series home to independent but thematically connected stories and games. He and character designer Naoki Ikushima have also worked to marry the best parts of Bravely with lessons learned from Octopath Traveler, the last Switch JRPG that the two worked on, and player feedback has shaped that process at nearly every level. A return to form "While I am really proud that so many people have played the games and like the series, at the same time I also feel with each game we had a lot of points to reflect on," Takahashi says of the series thus far. "With Bravely Second: End Layer, we received a lot of comments mainly … [Read more...] about The making of Bravely Default 2, a return to form built on demos, mistakes, and Octopath Traveler
Fortnite: How To Throw Fruit At Hunter’s Haven
Fortnite has launched its Season 5, Week 13 challenges, and one of the goofier ones tasks you with throwing fruit at Hunter's Haven. It sounds like a simple enough task, and it is once you know where you need to go. However, not knowing the location of the fruit could make it difficult, as several other tasks are at Hunter's Haven this week and you could get ambushed. Here's how to complete it quickly. Once you'd jumped out of the Battle Bus and have reached Hunter's Haven, look for a building in the southeastern part of the location. Head inside and go into the kitchen to find a box of produce on the counter. Search the box and you'll get a few different items. In our case, it included a few bananas and a mushroom. Of the two types, only a banana is a fruit, so pick the fruit up and aim before throwing. Don't simply pull the right trigger or you'll eat it by accident. The best part of this quest is you can actually throw the same item three times in order to complete it. Just … [Read more...] about Fortnite: How To Throw Fruit At Hunter’s Haven
BioWare Cuts Multiplayer From Dragon Age 4, Report Says
BioWare is back in the news again, as Bloomberg is reporting that Electronic Arts has decided to make a major change to Dragon Age 4. The report says developers on the game have been given the go-ahead to remove "all planned multiplayer components" of the RPG and make it a single-player only game. Dragon Age 4 will now be a purely single-player game, the site reported. The decision to cut Dragon Age 4's reported multiplayer features came from two main points, apparently. One was that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order , a single-player game, was a huge success with more than 10 million copies sold at launch. The other vector that reportedly drove the decision was that BioWare's multiplayer game Anthem struggled to find an audience. Just this week, BioWare announced that is had abandoned its "Anthem Next" plans to revitalize the game and would instead move on to other projects (though the servers are staying online). EA officially declined to comment to Bloomberg about the … [Read more...] about BioWare Cuts Multiplayer From Dragon Age 4, Report Says
