Just how demanding is Monster Hunter World's PC port? Is it really heavy on CPU as coverage of the closed beta seemed to suggest? And if so, what PC hardware is actually required to run the game at a consistent 60 frames per second? We went into this one expecting a battle - lowering CPU requirements is far more challenging with far less room for manoeuvre than tweaking graphics settings. But after extensive testing, the reality is that it is indeed the GPU side of the equation that makes running this title so challenging - and even a GTX 1070 running at just 1080p can't lock to 60 frames per second at max settings. That kind of performance on so capable a GPU does indeed suggest some kind of CPU problem. However, we ruled that out pretty swiftly. The same areas of gameplay that challenged a Ryzen 7 1700X/GTX 1070 system generally run in the mid 50s or much higher when a GTX 1080 Ti-class hardware is paired with a Pentium G5400 or the Ryzen 3 2200G. We chose this hardware specifically … [Read more...] about What does it take to run Monster Hunter World on PC at 1080p60?

The thing is, we’re also running Monster Hunter World on a pretty beefy PC here. It’s running an i7-6700k with 32GB memory and a GTX 1080 Ti GPU – it’s a pretty beefy machine. You can read the full PC specs over on the VG247 Gear List, but the point is that now all PC builds will be able to run Monster Hunter World quite so effectively to get 1080p and 60fps right out of the gate. The PC version of Monster Hunter: World is looking more and more worrying by the day. Sometime after confirming the PC release date for Monster Hunter: World and revealing the surprisingly high system requirements, Capcom has now clarified a few other details about the PC port. Despite the steep requirements for 30fps, game producer Ryozo Tsujimoto confirmed to PC Gamer that Monster Hunter: World will look about as good it does today on PS4 and Xbox One. “When the game launches, the visuals will have parity with the console versions. But we’re considering releasing a free update after launch.” Tsujimoto did not elaborate further as to what sort of upgrades players can expect from the free update, but it’s probably safe to assume it won’t be anything massive. Tsujimoto also revealed that the PC version will be a different version from consoles, meaning the monsters added to PS4/Xbox One post-launch won’t be there on day one for PC. While he did … [Read more...] about Monster Hunter: World PC will look about as good as it does on PS4/Xbox, won’t feature mod support or cross play

PS4 and Xbox One players both have a new set of limited bounties and event quests to complete, although some of those on PS4 have gotten a head-start on a particularly notable quest. In addition to the actual playable content, Capcom has released a new Monster Hunter World update. The patch notes are fairly simple, dealing primarily with multiplayer problems on both platforms and an issue involving Slashberries that emerged following another recent patch. As announced previously, PS4 players with a Street Fighter V save on their system get early access to the quest Down the Dark, Muddy Path. It's a simple Arena quest in which you simply hunt a Barroth, but the rewards are what make it notable--completing it enough times provides you with the necessary materials to craft the armor based on the look of Street Fighter character Ryu. This quest--and the Ryu gear, as well as armor based on Sakura--will be … [Read more...] about What’s New In Monster Hunter World This Week On PS4 And Xbox One
