I’m not proud to admit that I’ve forced dinosaurs to fight to the death in Jurassic World Evolution. What could possibly lead me to do something so horrible to these wonders of science-fiction? Capitalism, of course. I was being paid, and I needed to buy an ugly fast food restaurant. Every ‘Dino Bite’ that my guests have snacked on has been stained with Velociraptor blood. That’s my guarantee. My sadness and guilt are especially profound because the dinosaurs are one of the few bright spots in this otherwise humdrum theme park management game. Set just after the Jurassic World movie, Evolution puts you in the shoes of InGen’s new park administrator as you progress through missions across the Muertes island chain. After two decades, you’d think they’d stop trying to make parks on an archipelago also known as The Five Deaths, but I guess the real estate is super cheap. Each island comes with a specific challenge — limited space, a … [Read more...] about Wot I Think: Jurassic World Evolution
FIFA 13 was my introduction to soccer. Watching the players in FIFA curve their shots into the top corner of the net blew my mind, and I was certain there was no way they could do that in real life. Lionel Messi, the greatest player who has ever lived, proved me wrong. My assumptions about the sport were blown apart, along with my eardrums due to techno found in the soccer highlight videos I watched. Soccer became one of the biggest sources of joy in my life, and I owe it all to FIFA. The video game version of the sport quickly became a problem, however, instead of a solution. Five years after beginning to play the EA series, I finally quit. Catalonia, take over The only way I’ve been able to describe FIFA’s most addicting modes to those who don’t play is to imagine combining Pokemon with professional sports. You become attached to your players, and building and improving your team is a lot of fun. It’s a long, slow process with a lot of challenges and … [Read more...] about Why I had to quit playing FIFA soccer
We’ve all heard the age old philosophy that if you learn from your mistake, it isn’t really a mistake. But what if you don’t learn from it? What if you continue on doing it because you thought it was the right thing to do, and no one told you otherwise? If everyone else is doing it, can it still be a major mistake? Nobody likes making mistakes. And worse, most people are very resistant to changing their ways when they find out they’ve made one. But hopefully, if you’re reading this, you’re not one of those people. My goal with this article is that you can read some of the things listed here, and reflect on your development. Hopefully, you can learn from your mistakes and change your behavior to become the ultimate developer that I know is inside of you. So here are 7 of my worst game-killing assumptions, and what they taught me. #1 – No feedback is valid Sometimes, I can be really egotistical. Like sometimes I will have a conversation with … [Read more...] about 7 Of My Worst Game-Killing Assumptions, And What They Taught Me
"I'm unarmed. I'm a journalist, and I'm here to report on the robbery. Look, see my van? I was tipped off. The guy you want is in the back. Don't shoot." This was the spiel I used it to steal over $50,000 from a chain of Los Santos banks, shops and jewelry stores. Without confrontation, I tricked GTA 5 law enforcement roleplayers by preying on assumption and sincerity in the guise of a reporter. I didn't even care about the money—I was hooked on the lie, the scheme and the thrill of getting caught. When I eventually did get rumbled the spell was broken. But what a rush it was before then. Los Santos Life RP is a dedicated roleplaying server within FiveM, a 32-person open source community modification for Grand Theft Auto 5. Designed to allow mods on the server/client side of operation, FiveM works independently of Rockstar's GTA Online besides validating the player's copy of the game prior to launch. In Los Santos Life, cash reflects reality, therefore my haul was … [Read more...] about I robbed a string of banks unarmed by posing as a journalist in a GTA 5 roleplaying server
