One of the big perks of the new tiered PlayStation Plus subscription service is emulation-based support for older games like the PS1 and PSP. But you don't necessarily need to pay a subscription service to play some older games. According to new details released today, if you own those games digitally, you can play them on PS4 and PS5 without paying the Plus subscription fee. "When these titles are released for PS4 and PS5, players can head to PlayStation Store and download a version for the consoles at no extra cost if they already own the digital version of the title," Sony said in the blog post announcing a partial line-up . "Some of the titles will also be available for individual purchase." Sony didn't detail a full list of games, or which ones will be available for individual purchase. It did release a partial list of games that includes classics like Ape Escape and Hot Shots Golf, alongside remasters of games like Jak 2 and Jack 3, as well as Rogue Galaxy. The revised … [Read more...] about New PS Plus Will Let You Play PSP And Original PlayStation Games You Digitally Own Without Subscription

Lost Ark For Console? If Fans Make Enough Noise, Amazon And Smilegate Would Consider It
Smilegate's popular MMO Lost Ark is doing big numbers on PC, but could it ever come to console? Amazon Games boss Soomin Park said in new interview with VG247 that nothing is off the table. If fans make a clamor for Lost Ark on console, then Amazon Games and Smilegate would consider that feedback and factor it into their plans. That said, there are no guarantees. "If Lost Ark on consoles is something that fans really want, then I think it's something both parties would consider!" Park said. Amazon's other recent big PC MMO release, New World , also released exclusively on PC with no plans to launch on console. Lost Ark's FAQ page has an entry pertaining to possible other platforms. It says, "Will it only be on PC?" And the answer is, "Yes, Lost Ark is only available on PC." Smilegate's other recent big release, CrossfireX , is available on console, so the South Korean studio has a history of supporting platforms outside of PC alone. Lost Ark had about 450,000 peak … [Read more...] about Lost Ark For Console? If Fans Make Enough Noise, Amazon And Smilegate Would Consider It
Releasing New Lost Ark Endgame Content So Soon Was A “Mistake”
Lost Ark received its first major content update just last week , adding a new endgame activity, the Argos Abyss Raid, as well as new story content. A new blog post from Amazon and Smilegate RPG now says releasing that new content so soon after the game's launch was a mistake. "We made a mistake releasing the March game update too quickly after launch," the blog post states. "Data we analyzed alongside Smilegate RPG from their previous launches projected that a larger portion of players would have reached the level required to challenge Argos." Because the new Abyss Raid requires an item level of 1370, many players felt pressured to progress as fast as possible in order to play the new content. Since Lost Ark is a free-to-play game, players can outright purchase materials needed to upgrade gear and raise item levels with real-world money. That, combined with a shortage of Tier 3 upgrade materials that Amazon and Smilegate RPG says was the result of a rampant botting problem … [Read more...] about Releasing New Lost Ark Endgame Content So Soon Was A “Mistake”

Disney Dreamlight Valley Is More Than Animal Crossing In Mickey Mouse Ears
When Disney Dreamlight Valley was announced , I found its intersecting parts of Disney, the farm-life sim genre, and a free-to-play model to be exciting. With a fair in-game economy and gameplay that keep genre fans coming back, the Animal Crossing-like could have the potential to become a hit with players of all ages--but that microtransaction question loomed large. After spending an hour with the Gameloft development team and checking out a hands-off demo, I'm heartened to have seen a pay model without uncomfortable caveats, making me more confident Dreamlight Valley will be well populated by fans of the genre and brand alike. On the surface, Dreamlight Valley appears to be your typical farm-life sim--even its name seems determined to recall imagery of Stardew Valley, one of the genre's most beloved games. I arrived to my demo wanting to find out if this other valley could provide a similar mix of relaxing gameplay mechanics such as farming, mining, and socializing. It does … [Read more...] about Disney Dreamlight Valley Is More Than Animal Crossing In Mickey Mouse Ears
Netflix To Workers: Quit If You Don’t Want To Work On Content You Disagree With
Netflix has updated its culture guidelines to inform prospective workers that they might be asked to work on content they don't agree with or they perceive to be "harmful." If that's upsetting, there are other jobs out there, Netflix said. For the first time since 2017 ( via Insider ), Netflix updated its culture guidelines with a section pertaining to "Artistic Expression." The company says it supports artistic expression of all types and it allows its audience to choose what it wants to watch. As for employees, they might be asked to work on content they might find "harmful," and if that's the case, they might want to look elsewhere for employment. "Not everyone will like--or agree with--everything on our service," Netflix said. "While every title is different, we approach them based on the same set of principles: we support the artistic expression of the creators we choose to work with; we program for a diversity of audiences and tastes; and we let viewers decide what’s … [Read more...] about Netflix To Workers: Quit If You Don’t Want To Work On Content You Disagree With

Kingdom Hearts 4 Trailer Might Be Teasing A Star Wars Crossover
Square Enix's reveal of a new Kingdom Hearts game may have teased more than just a regular crossover with Disney's iconic cartoon characters, as fans spotted a brief glimpse of what appears to be the foot of an All Terrain Scout Transport. As seen in the Kingdom Hearts IV trailer , the AT-ST's foot seems to make a quick cameo at around 0:34 in the trailer, in a location that could be the forest moon of Endor: Such a crossover wouldn't be too surprising in Kingdom Hearts IV. The original games blended the worlds of Square Enix and Disney together when they were first released, as protagonist Sora teamed up with Goofy and Donald Duck to track down Mickey Mouse, eventually running into the likes of Final Fantasy VII's Sephiroth and some of Disney's greatest villains along the way. Allies from both franchises appeared as well, with Kingdom Hearts III having a strong Pixar influence in the cameo department. Disney has acquired more intellectual properties in the years since Kingdom … [Read more...] about Kingdom Hearts 4 Trailer Might Be Teasing A Star Wars Crossover
Netflix Suspends Service In Russia In Response To Ukraine Invasion
Netflix has announced that it is suspending service in Russia in response to the country's ongoing invasion of Ukraine. The streaming service's decision last week to discontinue its current projects and acquisitions in Russia, including four originals set in the country, has now been followed up with a more damning stance on the devastating invasion that has now stretched into its third week. The company is indefinitely shuttering its service altogether in support of Ukraine. “Given the circumstances on the ground, we have decided to suspend our service in Russia,” a Netflix spokesperson said. Netflix is one of the dozens of companies that have paused distribution or service in Russia following its unprovoked attacks on Ukraine. Last week, Microsoft opted to halt all new sales in the country, and the gaming industry as a whole is stepping up to support Ukraine . Of course, this is all in addition to sweeping sanctions from countries across the world that aim to apply … [Read more...] about Netflix Suspends Service In Russia In Response To Ukraine Invasion
