It’s not long to go now until we have to bid Rick Grimes farewell, and judging by The Walking Dead season 9 episode titles just released, it could be slightly sooner than we first imagined. The first half of the season – all eight episodes – now have a title (except one, but let’s get to that in a moment), a writer, and a director, and it all quite plainly charts the course for the season ahead. We already had a fair idea that Rick would leave in the first six The Walking Dead season 9 episodes, but we can now (probably) zero in on the exact episode it’ll happen in. Courtesy of AMC (H/T Newsweek), the opening episode titles have been revealed:A New Beginning – Writer: Angela Kang, Director: Greg NicoteroThe Bridge – Writer: David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, Director: Daisy MayerWarning Signs – Writer: Channing Powell, Director: Dan LiuThe Obliged – Writer: Geraldine Inoa, Director: Rosemary RodriguezWhat Comes After - Writer Matthew … [Read more...] about The Walking Dead season 9 episode titles are out – and two in particular hint at exactly when we’ll be saying goodbye to Rick
Walking dead season 4 episode 6
Believe it or not, The Walking Dead is losing its leading man Rick Grimes sooner than you think. Sob. Andrew Lincoln confirmed his departure from the long-running zombie series at San Diego Comic Con 2018 and it’s looking likely that it’ll happen during The Walking Dead season 9, episode 5. While it’s pretty hard to imagine the show without Rick, the bigger question is how it’s going to happen? While death by Walker seems like the most traditional way out for the former Sheriff, it’s doubtful AMC will go for something so obvious and with new showrunner Angela Kang promising a bold “new show” and “new narrative” this season, we might see Rick bow out in a more surprising way. To stem the tide of grief we’re feeling over his departure - and to keep us going until the new season begins - we’ve tried to predict how Rick will leave The Walking Dead with our top five theories on his exit. You can take a deep breath and finally give your pupils a break from all that eye-rolling. The war is over, Negan is defeated, and you’ve made it to the end of The Walking Dead season 8, which finished on a wildly inconsistent finale ironically befitting of a show that never maintains a decent level of quality for more than a few episodes. While viewers weren’t subjected to another annoyingly uninventive cliffhanger that AMC often likes to draw the curtains with, there are still multitudes of loose ends that The Walking Dead needs to address for its inevitable ninth season. We know very little about what’s in store for Rick and company going forward, but last night’s finale teased to its heart’s content about potential story threads for future episodes, but not always in a good way. Episode 14 of The Walking Dead Season 8, Still Gotta Mean Something, may have aired on April Fool’s Day, but there was little room for tomfoolery in a noticeable darker outing for Rick, Morgan, Carol, and the rest of Atlanta’s survivors. In keeping with the season, however, we got our best (yet most confusing) look yet at the show’s longest running Easter egg, even if the details remain wrapped up in mystery for now.In fact, I’m still left with more questions than answers about that scene with Negan and Jadis, in addition to a bunch of other head-scratchers relating to character motivations, plot holes, and every other kind of dangling thread you can expect from The Walking Dead at this point. Spoilers below, as I look at six of the biggest questions I had after watching Still Gotta Mean Something.1. What was Jadis planning to do with Negan? Despite dropping the monosyllabic cult leader act, there’s definitely still more to Jadis than meets the eye. … [Read more...] about 6 questions I have after watching The Walking Dead season 8, episode 14
I can’t tell you how delighted I am that The Walking Dead season 8 has managed to stay consistently good for two consecutive episodes. At this point, that’s nothing short of a televisual miracle and, as a long-time viewer, it feels practically euphoric. There were bumps in the road for episode 10, for sure, but they were nothing compared to what the audience has been subjected to in the past. With that in mind, most of the following questions I had following The Lost and the Plunderers are genuinely intriguing mysteries that conjure anticipation for next week. Normally, my questions are just various manifestations of me shouting “WHY?!” at the TV for 45 minutes. Major spoilers for The Walking Dead season 8 beyond this point, as I go through the six biggest questions I had from episode 10. 1. What does Carl’s letter to Negan say? So far, Rick’s doing a terrible job of respecting Carl’s wishes for a better tomorrow, as … [Read more...] about 6 questions I have after watching The Walking Dead season 8, episode 10
