One of the greatest classics from the arcade golden age is being adapted into a board game. Space Invaders – The Board Game has just launched on Kickstarter, and, as of this time of writing, it’s already pretty close to achieving its $45,000 goal, with 30 days to go. The game is being developed as a partnership of Square Enix Holdings subsidiary TAITO Corporation, the creator and copyright holder of Space Invaders, and 612 Entertainment, a cross-media entertainment production company founded in 2017 by entertainment and media industry veterans. Invader Zim creator Jhonen Vasquez can’t promise that the long-awaited Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus! — the first new episode of Nickelodeon’s cult-classic dark comedy in more than 15 years — will be better than, or even as good as, the cartoon you remember. Today Ubisoft showed off its planned post-launch content for the forthcoming release of Far Cry 5 with a brand new trailer. The Season Pass trailer goes over each of the three previously announced DLC releases included in the package: Hours of Darkness, Lost on Mars, and Dead Living Zombies. Themed after war, space, and zombie shooters, respectively, Far Cry 5‘s Season Pass DLCs are certain to provide something for everyone. Far Cry 5‘s first post-launch Season Pass DLC, Hours of Darkness, is set within the Vietnam War. This DLC will focus on stealth and survival gameplay, as the player invades a Viet-Cong camp to rescue prisoners of war. DLC 2, Lost on Mars, gives the player a jetpack and tasks them with defending a Mars base from a Martian Arachnid attack. Finally, there is Dead Living Zombies, which is a humorous riff on modern zombie horde shooters shared through 7 unique scenarios. Taito Corporation announced today that Space Invaders Extreme and Groove Coaster would be invading the PC community next month. According to the game’s official Steam Page, to celebrate the game’s 40th anniversary, Space Invaders will launch on PC via Steam sometime next month. Additionally, Space Invaders Extreme’s store page, as well as its PC configuration requirements, are now up. Space Invaders Extreme is an updated version of the critically-acclaimed 1978 title. Initially, the title was released back in mid-2008 for the Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, and Xbox Live Arcade to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Space Invaders release. Aside from updated graphics, visuals, and interactive sound, the Steam version also includes a brand new World Ranking System for Arcade Mode, as well as Leaderboards and Steam Achievements.
