FACEBOOK will soon allow you to "unsend" messages in its Messenger app up to ten minutes after originally pressing send. Plans for the new feature were announced in the release notes for the latest update of the app which was made available to iPhone and iPad users on Tuesday. The note read: "Coming soon: Remove a message from a chat thread after it's been sent. "If you accidentally send the wrong photo, incorrect information or message the wrong thread, you can easily correct it by removing the message within ten minutes of sending it." A prototype of the unsend feature had previously been spotted by Jane Wong who shared screenshots on Twitter explaining how it will work be done. WHATSAPP users will soon find it more difficult to delete messages, as the messaging app updates how it handles its 'Delete for everyone' feature. There will now be a time limit to how long WhatsApp will spend trying to erase messages from other users' chats, which could mean that some 'unsent' messages are still seen by their recipients. WhatsApp's 'Delete for everyone' feature was rolled out last October, letting users erase their own messages from other people's WhatsApp chats as well as theirs. Initially, you had only seven minutes after first sending a message to unsend it, but WhatsApp bumped this up to just over an hour in March. This meant that, as long you sent a 'Delete for everyone' request within an hour of sending a message, WhatsApp would spend an unlimited amount of time trying to delete it from other users' phones. However, according to WhatsApp update tracker WABetaInfo, the messaging app will now try to delete the message from other users' WhatsApp for only 13 hours, … [Read more...] about WhatsApp’s ‘unsend’ feature is getting a big change – and it’s bad news
FACEBOOK is gearing up to allow users to unsend private messages in its Messenger app. A prototype of this feature was spotted by Jane Wong and she shared screenshots on Twitter explaining how it can be done. She said: “Facebook Messenger is finally working on "Unsend Message" in the app for everyone!” The screenshots show how a message a message is selected and how the user can either select an option to “unsend” or “delete” it. However, users will be limited with how many times they can do this. Jane added: “Facebook Messenger users will only be allowed to unsend their messages after a certain amount of times.” It appears this feature has not fully rolled out for all Messenger users. When The Sun Online tested to see if the feature was available only the “delete message” option existed. To check if it works for you, simply log into Messenger and open a chat. Then hold down your finger on a message you've recently sent, and a … [Read more...] about Facebook’s ‘unsend’ feature is in testing – here’s how to check if it’s on YOUR phone

It used to be the case that sending a WhatsApp message was final – no take-backs. There are plenty of reasons why you'd want to unsend a message: maybe you've drunk-texted an ex, or mistakenly called your boss something unpleasant in the work chat. There's been no official announcement, but tech site WABetaInfo dug into the latest beta app update for WhatsApp and uncovered the change. How to "unsend" a WhatsApp message? So if you've sent a risky text or made a mistake the feature can save you a lot of embarrassment or explaining. All you have to do to delete a message is … [Read more...] about How to unsend WhatsApp messages and what’s the time limit on ‘Delete for Everyone’?
FACEBOOK is adding an unsend feature for messages sent over the social network site, according to new reports. The news comes after Facebook admitting that it was purging messages sent by Mark Zuckerberg – a feature unavailable to normal users. It's believed that Facebook will add the feature in "several months" time, according to TechCrunch. The report notes that Facebook will let all users access the unsend feature. And adds that Facebook will stop deleting Mark Zuckerberg's messages until all users can do the same. Last night, Facebook revealed that it was purging old messages sent to Facebook friends on the Messenger app. In a statement given to The Sun about the Zuck purge, a Facebook spokesperson said: "After Sony Pictures' emails were hacked in 2014 we made a number of changes to protect our executives' communications. "These included limiting the retention period for Mark's messages in Messenger. "We did so in full compliance with our legal obligations to preserve … [Read more...] about Facebook is FINALLY getting an unsend feature for Messenger after bosses admit Zuckerberg already has it
