For over 30 years, Street Fighter has been at the pinnacle of the fighting game genre. Like a crafty veteran prize fighter, Capcom has managed to not only keep up with its competition, but outfox it along the way. Rivalries with the likes of Mortal Kombat and The King Of Fighters couldn’t halt the rise of Street Fighter, and nor could the rise of the three- dimensional fighting game. Even the changing fortunes of the fighting game genre as a whole haven’t been able to floor this series. The first game was a critical success that did good business in the arcades, but it’s seen as little more than a historical curio today. Ultra street fighter 2
Now this is more like it. Last May, still uncertain about the prospects of Nintendo's Switch, Capcom tentatively tested the waters with Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers. The end result, though, felt more like a kick in the face; a bastardised version of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix, Capcom filled out the package with a suite of unwelcome extras in a clumsy attempt to justify the full-fat pricetag. People were upset at the unconvincing results, and you can understand perfectly well why. Street Fighter is more than just a game. It's a cult at times, a worldwide cultural phenomenon at others; a cornerstone of communities that bring people from around the globe together, or just the best place to play with a friend for an evening of bawdy brawling. Street Fighter matters. Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection gets that, and gives the series the respect it deserves. It does a more effective job than any harsh words online could in proving just how bad The Final … [Read more...] about Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection review

After much anticipation, Street Fighter V released on PC and PS4 on February 16, 2016. Many hoped the title would take the long-running series to even greater heights, as it was running on a new engine, introduced new characters, and had an intriguing new V-Gauge system to make fights even more interesting. Unfortunately, the title was met with disappointment by many fans initially at launch, as the lack of purely single player content was underwhelming. Now, almost two years later, Capcom has made tons of improvements to the game and released Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, which bolsters the game’s single-player content greatly. While you can make the argument that the game should have been this feature-full at launch, if you have been hesitant to jump into Street Fighter V, now is probably the best time to do so since launch. To fully understand the improvements that have been made, you must be aware of what was present when the game … [Read more...] about Street Fighter V, Two Years Later: Where is it Now?
