"This digital series is designed to showcase and introduce creators traditionally underrepresented in the mainstream comic book medium," DC's newly-promoted executive director Marie Javins says in the announcement. "We'll highlight both new and familiar voices, beginning with 'It's a Bird' by writer Christian Cooper and artist Alitha E. Martinez, a semi-fictionalized account of Christian's very real evolution from a kid with a pair of binoculars to a man in an unexpected media spotlight after an altercation with a woman walking her dog in Central Park." … [Read more...] about DC tells stories of “personal experiences, unheard voices, and social revolution” in Represent!
Telling stories through photography
My bugbear, however, was always going to be around Dontnod’s extremely vocal efforts at doing trans representation right – and on that, Alice reckons the handing of trans character Tyler is fine enough, if ultimately forgotten by the time episode 2 rolls around. The show's current showrunner, Angela Kang, added: “I look forward to digging in with our brilliant writers, producers, directors, cast and crew to bring this epic final chapter of Robert Kirkman’s story to life for our fans over the next two years. The Walking Dead flagship series has been my creative home for a decade and so it’s bittersweet to bring it to an end, but I could not be more excited to be working with Scott Gimple and AMC to develop a new series for Daryl and Carol. Working with Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride has been a highlight of my career and I’m thrilled that we get to keep telling stories together.” … [Read more...] about The Walking Dead to end in 2022 with extra-long season 11
And that's not the only spin-off on the way. Gimple is developing another new series titled Tales of the Walking Dead, which is reported to be “an episodic anthology with individual episodes or arcs of episodes focused on new or existing characters, backstories or other stand-alone experiences.” That, of course, means we can expect to see some characters who previously left the series to return. … [Read more...] about Two Walking Dead spin-offs announced as main series comes to an end
