Paradox Interactive has announced news of a partnership with TeacherGaming to launch Cities: Skylines Education Edition, an educational version of Colossal Order’s city building simulator Cities: Skylines. Cities: Skylines Education Edition has eight custom-made lesson scenarios related to sustainable city planning, active citizenship, the Human Development Index, and more. Lesson plans, in-game tutorials, and student progress are other features that are included with the educational edition of Cities: Skylines. TeacherGaming were responsible for MinecraftEdu, which laid the foundations for Minecraft: Education Edition when Microsoft bought Minecraft. In 2015 they started up 5 More Minutes Ltd, which the brand, TeacherGaming now operates under. Minefaire, Philly took place on October 14-15 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA. Before the general public (over 13,000 in total) arrived, the first day of the event kicked off with a special three hour event exclusively for educators. This FREE event was co-sponsored by the Minecraft Education Edition team and included breakfast for attendees and three hours of learning about how Minecraft is (and can be) used in Education. The idea behind the event was to bring educators together to connect and learn together while growing the community of educators interested in using Minecraft in Schools. Over 30 attendees and 6 global minecraft mentors participated. The participants were able to meet mentors from around the world including Marco Vigelini (all the way from Italy!), Ben Spieldenner from Ohio, Sean Arnold from New York, and Mark Grundel, Steve Isaacs, and Cathy Cheo-Isaacs all hailing from New Jersey. It’s not uncommon to find tweets in which those reading the post are asked for a retweet in order to reach a particular numerical goal, after which it is promised that some desire will be fulfilled. If it was more widely-known that these campaigns actually do sometimes work, then perhaps more students would begin attempting to get their teachers to change the subject content of their formal exams to revolve around playing a popular video game. On Friday, a Twitter user by the name of Jilli Zuz took to the platform asking the community for some help, after posting a tweet in which it was suggested that she had struck a deal with her AP Chemistry teacher to change the contents of an upcoming exam to revolve around the popular battle royale title, Fortnite, if her tweet was able to reach a goal of 6,700 retweets.
