Microsoft Surface Pro 3 owners will be glad to know that the issues surrounding the battery life of their tablets are not tied up to previously speculated hardware problems. The company has reportedly traced the root problem and all that will eventually be resolved once the patch they are working on is done. The only problem right now is that Microsoft has not announced an actual date on when it would be released. Prior to the discovery that the real problem tied up to the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 was a software problem, some owners were paying a steep price on replacement fees (around $450). With the device technically a new model, this should not be the case. The recently unveiled Surface Pro 3 won't be available to try out at retailers for the time being, but will be coming to Microsoft stores on June 6. Microsoft's Surface event in NYC today revealed the Surface Pro 3, Microsoft's answer to consumers feeling the need to carry or own both a laptop and a tablet when work has to be completed. Rumors Of New Samsung Tablets Appear, Including Word Of A Large Device That was arguably one of the main goals of the original Surface already, but Microsoft notes that tablets have not replaced computers as expected, and believes the Surface Pro 3 will be the solution. Older readers may recall not a lot, what with being old and all. Only slightly older readers may recall my talking about replacing my laptop with a Surface Pro 2 around 18 months ago. Microsoft’s tablet/laptop hybrid has served me reasonably well for work and play, but the one aspect of it I increasingly struggled with was the size.It’s not so much that it’s just 10.6″ across, but more that its 16:9 aspect ratio, while well suited to films and what games it could play, was claustrophobic for writing and CMS work. In the last couple of months I felt as though I was typing while staring through a letterbox. Today during a special event in New York City, Microsoft officially announced the Surface Pro 3, "the tablet that can replace your laptop." It is the latest revision in Microsoft's Surface line, following Surface and Surface 2. Microsoft says the Surface Pro 3 will remove the "conflict" some consumers feel when they are deciding if they should buy a laptop or a tablet.Microsoft's Surface boss Panos Panay says the Surface Pro 3, at 9.1mm (compared to 10.6mm for the Surface Pro 2), is the thinnest Intel Core product ever made. It weighs 800 grams, which is lighter than the Macbook Air, though Apple's product has a built-in keyboard, of course. The Surface Pro 3 has a 12-inch screen (up from 10.6" from the Surface Pro 2) and will work with a stylus.
