Odin, Valhalla, and the real Norse myths behind Valheim’s 3 million player strong success

· February 24, 2021 ·

The last time I played Valheim, my poor Viking spent a solid half-hour running up and down a mountain in nothing but underwear to retrieve his dropped equipment. While he leapt and dodged past packs of angry wolves, a man in a hooded cloak stood and watched. I wonder if he enjoyed the show. Valheim is the latest early-access indie success to hit PC, having just hit over 3 million players on Steam after a scant few weeks of release. The game brings a heady mix of intricate survival mechanics, lo-fi textures blended with beautiful lighting, and a deep fascination with ancient Norse imagery. There are, however, a huge array of different survival games released every day on PC. Why did this one rise to such prominence when countless others fail? · February 24, 2021 ·

Have you ever had to grow into your gear? The Elder Scrolls Online has. The Elder Scrolls MMO was not a smash success when it debuted on the heels of Skyrim in 2014. Those first months were rough (just ask players to relive those beta and early experiences and look for the trauma in their eyes). In early 2021, Bethesda's Pete Hines lauded TESO as "the most successful Bethesda game over the last four years." And this past year was its most popular yet. While Steam is only one of the platforms The Elder Scrolls Online is available on, its charts show the game's upward trend . April 2020 had the highest average player count ever, and it's consistently averaging higher than previous years. The developers … [Read more...] about The state of The Elder Scrolls Online in 2021

· February 24, 2021 ·

This March on HBO Max, the rubber hits the road on a pair of movies you've likely been hearing about and following for quite a while. You probably don't even need us to say this, but the next month brings both Zack Snyder's Justice League and Godzilla Vs. Kong. There are, of course, other bright spots worth designating as appointment television as well--let's get into it. To work our way backwards through next month, on March 31, the highly anticipated monster movie Godzilla vs. Kong will hit the streaming platform. The movie is also hitting theaters, but for those who are still observing quarantine HBO Max is obviously the preferable way to catch it. We'd tell you the movie's plot so you have an idea of what to expect, but what's to know? It's freakin' King Kong and Godzilla beating on each other. This is the fourth movie in MonsterVerse, following Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017), and Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019). What you may need a little bit of a … [Read more...] about New On HBO Max March 2021: Godzilla Vs. Kong, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, South ParQ Vaccination Special, And More
