By Sherif Saed, Friday, 4 May 2018 12:57 GMT Being a live service, you can expect Star Wars: Battlefront 2 content updates to be shaped by upcoming Star Wars films. This includes Solo: A Star Wars Story, which opens in two weeks. EA has confirmed that Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will be getting content from the film as part of its Han Solo season. Though it didn’t reveal an exact date, or really any details about what we can expect, EA did confirm that more details will be revealed next week. Though we have little to go on, it’s probably safe to assume one or more of the locations will be featured in a map or two. It’s also very possible the young Solo and young Chewbacca skins will be added to the game’s expanding collection, and we may even get a new hero or villain from the movie, though that is less likely. We’ve got a really good feeling about this.#StarWarsBattlefrontII: The Han Solo Season arrives this month. Solo: A Star Wars Story aims to bring Han Solo back to his roots."I’ve flown from one side of this galaxy to the other," the charming smuggler tells Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars. "I’ve seen a lot of strange stuff, but I’ve never seen anything to make me believe there’s one all-powerful Force controlling everything. There’s no mystical energy field controls my destiny."This is the voice of a cocky, cynical man who relies on himself and trusts no one (apart from his Wookiee friend, of course). And it's that version of Han that father-and-son writing team Lawrence and Jonathan Kasdan want to bring to the big screen this May, they recently told our sister publication SFX magazine.A different type of Wild West"For me, one of the most irresistible moments in A New Hope was that there was one of these characters hurtling through space who thinks that the Force and the Jedi are a bunch of mumbo-jumbo that he’s heard about, but doesn’t … [Read more...] about The Solo: A Star Wars Story writers discuss the film’s tone: “We’re not dealing with the spiritual side”
Donald Glover’s Lando ‘tache wasn’t the only incredible thing to come out the new Han Solo movie trailer. As it turns out, there’s an extremely well-hidden Star Wars: Rogue One cameo in the background of a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shot. As uncovered by the folks over at Screen Rant, fast-forwarding to 0:58 in the latest trailer lets you clap eyes on the Easter egg. Does K-2SO show up? Or maybe Mads Mikkelsen is just chilling with those cheekbones of his? Unfortunately, it’s a bit more of a deep cut than that.Just who is that? For this one, you’re going to need an encyclopaedic knowledge of Star Wars. Literally. Having been given only a walk-on part in Rogue One appearing in a crowd in Jedha and getting his story massively fleshed out in Rogue One’s Ultimate Visual Guide, bounty hunter Tam Posla shows up out of the blue behind Han Solo in a gambling den. Sure, it’s not quite Cap’s shield showing up in Iron Man, but … [Read more...] about Did you spot the Star Wars: Rogue One cameo in the new Han Solo movie trailer?
How far can Star Wars push the boundaries? Star Wars: The Last Jedi took a few controversial steps when it comes to treating fan-favourites, as did Star Wars: Rogue One. But what if it could all be undone? Theoretically, that’s now possible, thanks to (canonical) TV show Star Wars Rebels. A hearty hat tip to the folks over at /Film for dissecting Star Wars Rebels episode A World Between Worlds. Here’s the important bit: main series protagonist Ezra has stumbled upon the secrets of a Jedi Temple on the planet of Lothal. There, it’s clear that a Jedi (or a Sith, for that matter) can travel backwards and forwards through time through several portals – as Ezra does in the episode. While the Lothal Temple is rendered inaccessible by the episode’s end (sinking into the ground tends to do that to a place), the echoes of such a reveal might reverberate for some time to come. Firstly, the Emperor – ol’ lightning hands himself – knows about it. If … [Read more...] about Star Wars Rebels just made time travel canon
When Sphero released its BB-8 robotic ball, co-founder and chief scientist Adam Wilson knew that he was onto something. He and his team had partnered with Lucasfilm to create the wirelessly connected replica model of the new droid in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and the demand for it far exceeded their expectations. As Wilson and his team moved forward, they tried to come up with ways to make the toy more enjoyable; one of those ideas was to release a smartband peripheral called the Force Band. Using one of the newest versions of Bluetooth technology, the band relies on motion gesturing from the wearer to control the mini-BB-8 droid. It looks like something out of a Star Wars film, an aspect the design team worked hard on nailing, and doesn't feel heavy on your wrist. For Wilson, the main reason he decided to pursue a peripheral controlling device that both enthusiasts, fans and kids could wear was to ensure they didn't need to rely on using an iPhone or Android … [Read more...] about Star Wars Force Band will control both ‘Battle Worn’ BB-8, Force Awakens model
