"There’s a lot of fighting in the film," Mortal Kombat movie director Simon McQuoid promises. And you would certainly hope he's right – this, after all, is an adaptation of one of the most famous fighting video game series of all time. Unlike the last Mortal Kombat movie, though, this one promises bloody fatalities aplenty. "Some fights are big, some are small, but my main goal was to make the fights mean something," McQuoid tells Total Film . "I wanted the fights to look and feel like they didn’t just sort of pop out of the story and then come back in. "I didn’t want anything generic. I didn’t want anything that you could see in any action movie. The stunt team on this were just amazing, and they designed some pretty fucking incredible things.” Above you can see an exclusive image from the new Mortal Kombat movie. It features Chin Han (Ghost in the Shell, Marco Polo, The Dark Knight) as the villain Shang Tsung, who was famously played by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa in the 1995 … [Read more...] about Mortal Kombat movie: Shang Tsung powers up in this exclusive new image

PlayStation Store discontinuing TV and movie purchases and rentals
The PlayStation Store will be discontinuing movie and TV purchases and rentals later this year. The discontinuing of rentals and purchases through the PSN Store was announced over on the PlayStation Blog earlier today. "We’ve seen tremendous growth from PlayStation fans using subscription-based and ad-based entertainment streaming services on our consoles," explains Vanessa Lee, head of video business at Sony. "With this shift in customer behavior, we have decided to no longer offer movie and TV purchases and rentals through PlayStation Store as of August 31, 2021." It's important to note, however, that after movie and TV purchases and rentals are discontinued through the PSN Store, you can still access all previously purchased content. So if you purchased any TV shows or movies prior to August 31, you'll still be able to watch them whenever you want. We can't say that the move away from on-demand content like this comes as a huge surprise from Sony. The company all but … [Read more...] about PlayStation Store discontinuing TV and movie purchases and rentals
New Horror Movie Slaxx Follows A Pair Of Jeans That Come Alive And Try To Kill People
The horror movie streaming company Shudder's latest original film is called "Slaxx," and it follows the story of a pair of jeans that wants to kill people. The jeans become possessed and come to life to exact revenge upon a "trendy" clothing company. The jeans are sent to the company's flagship store and start to pick off workers one-by-one as they work overnight to get the new collection ready for display. It's sort of like Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, except the pants want to rip your fingers off and kill you to death instead of reunite childhood friends. Slaxx stars Romane Denis (Slut in a Good Way), Brett Donahue (Private Eyes), Sehar Bhojani (The Handmaid's Tale), and Stephen Bogaert (The Umbrella Academy). It's directed by Elza Kephart (Go in the Wilderness, Graveyard Alive) from a script from Kephart and Patricia Gomez (Gravyard Alive). The effects work--and there is a lot because this is a movie about jeans that come to life--was done by Blood Brothers FX. This … [Read more...] about New Horror Movie Slaxx Follows A Pair Of Jeans That Come Alive And Try To Kill People
BioShock Movie Director Talks About Why The Film Was Canceled
Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski has spoken about the cancelation of his BioShock movie that was in the works a long time ago. Speaking to Collider , Verbinski said he was in trouble from the very beginning, as he pitched the movie as a R-rated film that needed a gigantic budget. The executives at Universal apparently balked. "It was strange, my first meeting at Universal on BioShock was sitting in a room and saying, 'Hey guys, this is a $200 million R-rated movie.' And it was silent. I remember my agent going, 'Why did you say that?' I'm like, because it is," he said. "Why just even trying to kill a movie you haven't even started? That's before getting a scripted before anything. I'm just I just want to be clear. And I think everybody at the studio was like,'Well, yeah, okay, maybe. Wow, no. It's big, we know.'" According to Verbinski, Universal "chickened out" and didn't agree to Verbinski's idea to make an R-rated movie with a huge budget.
