The 19th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards are ready to take place this year and Rockstar Games’ “Red Dead Redemption 2” is in the finalists with most nominations. Rockstar Games’ “Red Dead Redemption 2” has left behind God of War in Game Developers Choice Awards mentions with total 7 nominations. Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) has been nominated for Best Audio, Best Design, Innovation Award, Best Narrative, Best Technology, Best Visual Art, and Game of the Year at the upcoming 19th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards. Yesterday, the nominees for the Independent Games Festival awards were announced, led by Return of the Obra Dinn, which claimed four nominations including one for the Seumas McNally Grand Prize. Now it's time to get a look at the contenders for the year's Game Developers Choice Awards. The Game Developers Choice Awards are held in conjunction with the IGF, but cover all games and platforms, from indies and mobiles to big-budget mega-hits. Red Dead Redemption 2 tops this year's list with seven nominations, followed by God of War and Marvel's Spider-Man, which drew six nominations each. The PC is championed by Return of the Obra Dinn, which collected four nominations including Best Narrative, Best Visual Art, the Innovation Award, and Game of the Year. Red Dead Redemption 2 leads the field of nominees for the 19th annual Game Developers Choice Awards, with seven nominations, while PlayStation exclusives God of War and Spider-Man received six each. All three are nominated for Game of the Year. They are joined in that category by Celeste and Return of the Obra Dinn, which likewise picked up multiple nominations (three for Celeste, four for Obra Dinn). Four of the five nominees for Game of the Year are nominated for Best Narrative, where they are also joined by Florence, which was given an honorable mention for Game of the Year. Nominees are chosen by video games developers and winners are announced during this year’s Game Developers Conference; the ceremony will be held March 20, 2019. Marvel’s Spider-Man has been out for almost a couple weeks at this point and if you haven’t heard, it’s pretty good. Sony and Insomniac Games still aren’t done sharing new details about the project and the thought that went into its development. Today, a new video was released which features many members of both Insomniac Games and Marvel Games discussing the process of creating the new iconic White Spider suit for Marvel’s Spider-Man. Devs such creative director Bryan Intihar and art director Jacinda Chew explain that even though they knew they wanted to design a new suit for the game, they needed to make sure that it remained true to the source material. They also talk about the decision that went into going with the larger white spider symbol rather than the usual black one and it actually makes a lot of sense.
