Last week, a supposed leak was given out that Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin, and Far Cry 4 were both going to be the Playstation Plus games for February. However, it turns out that those were actually fake Playstation Plus games; whatever they’re going to be in February, it’s not those two. Playstation Plus games have often been criticized by the fanbase for a perceived lack of quality, though for the past few months there have been some better games. January’s games were Batman: The Telltale Series and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, but it appears that so far February isn’t going to have that same sort of quality, though we don’t know the actual games yet. For many gamers who were wanting more Triple-A games to be available in Playstation Plus’s free games catalogue, the fake Playstation Plus games leak marked the possibility of two months of fairly high-quality games. However, it seems like that’s not happening with the reveal that the … [Read more...] about Fake Playstation Plus Games For February Revealed; Dark Souls And Far Cry Aren’t Coming

With Microsoft having already pulled the curtain back to reveal Xbox’s free Games with Gold for February 2018, there’s no doubt that Sony fans are in eager anticipation to learn what titles their PlayStation Plus subscription will net them next month. Although Sony has yet to officially announce what free games will be offered to subscribers in February, a recent leak points to the possibility of From Software’s action-RPG Dark Souls 2 being one of titles included in the deal. As seen in the image below from the Redditor known as “khr1s,” PlayStation Plus might not only be giving subscribers Dark Souls 2 for free next month, but also Ubisoft’s first-person shooter Far Cry 4. What’s more is that Wish Studios’ multiplayer party game That’s You! could also be included in PlayStation Plus’ free games for February 2018. Of course, considering the fact that the picture comes from an unverified source, it’s important to … [Read more...] about PlayStation Plus Free Games for February to Include Dark Souls 2?
We may be seeing the last days of the free games — Games With Gold, PlayStation Plus — as we’ve known them over the past eight years. Not immediately or imminently, but the seeming exhaustion of the PlayStation 3’s pool of worthy free games candidates this year is both understandable and a foreshadowing of what’s to come for Xbox, which got into this free games racket three full years after Sony. There is no question that Xbox One customers were better served this year. Of 74 games on PS Plus in 2017, six came from what I would consider major publishers other than Sony itself (Atlus, Capcom, Konami, Square Enix and Ubisoft — and Ubisoft’s contribution was a carved out DLC expansion to Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag). Xbox got 18 out of 48 (2K Games, Electronic Arts, Square Enix and Ubisoft). Leaving aside their MSRP or the Metacritic score, that is what players are thinking when they hear, “You get free games each month.” I … [Read more...] about Games With Gold and PlayStation Plus free games: Change is inevitably coming
On Wednesday, PlayStation announced the last batch of free games to PlayStation Plus subscribers for December, bringing to 74 the number of titles it offered in 2017. Were they any good? What would they cost otherwise? In short, what do the numbers say about the value of this PlayStation Plus benefit? We’ll try to answer that question this year as we have the past two years. To that, however, we’ve added a few more questions: How old is the game? Did Sony publish it? What publisher did PlayStation Plus use the most? Did these appear earlier on Xbox Live Games With Gold? These questions may shed light on where these free games programs are headed, particularly as the previous console generation ages. What about Xbox Live Games With Gold? Getting Started In all, there were 74 games in PlayStation Plus’ free games offerings for 2017 (two were PlayStation VR bonuses, and counted among the averages and totals here), with an average Metacritic score of 71.3 and a combined … [Read more...] about PlayStation Plus gave out $1,287 worth of games in 2017.
