The FPS Call of Duty mobile game’s alpha is live in Australia, and it has multiplayer and zombies. Call of Duty: Legends of War is the series’ latest mobile title, developed by Chinese developer Tencent, and the game’s soft launch is now live in Australia on Android. Activision announced its partnership with Tencent back in August – via Variety – to develop a mobile title for the Chinese market. Charlie INTEL reports that Legends of War’s alpha is now live in select regions outside of China, so whether this is the same title being expanded into other markets, or a different game altogether is unknown right now. “In Call of Duty: Legends of War, Activision combines the best maps, characters, weapons and gear from the Call of Duty universe and brings them together for the first time,” reads the description on the game’s official Facebook page. Players can choose from iconic characters from across the franchise, including Price, and … [Read more...] about Call of Duty: Legends of War’s soft launch brings multiplayer and zombies to Android

Gears POP Gameplay Revealed Ahead of Soft Launch
Gears POP, which was announced alongside Gears 5 at this year’s E3 conference, is taking the franchise into the mobile space. On the eve of its release, Studio Head of The Coalition Rod Fergusson and Lead Designer Tyler Bielman talked through the first gameplay from the title. A tower rush game similar to Clash Royale, Gears POP will have players building decks of soldiers from both the COG and Locust forces. Each soldier has different abilities that will come into play on the battlefield before them. You start off with two outposts and a leader unit in the center. As you push forward and gain more cover points, you can drag soldiers in closer to your enemy outposts. Destroying said outposts gain you points, and the highest score after a few minutes wins. What makes Gears POP stand out from the crowd seems to be down to the franchise fundamentals. Soldiers will take cover when they find it, shooting down the more bestial soldiers who charge … [Read more...] about Gears POP Gameplay Revealed Ahead of Soft Launch

Though invite-only, Fortnite Battle Royale tops iOS charts at launch
Epic Games has brought Fortnite’s free-to-play battle royale mode to mobile, and though access to the game currently requires an invite from Epic, Venture Beat reports that Fortnite Battle Royale has already climbed to the top of the iPhone’s Top Free Apps chart. Game developers have likely already heard about the fervor surrounding battle royale games like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite Battle Royale, so the fact that the latter’s mobile launch has generated a buzz shouldn’t be too surprising. As of last night, Sensor Tower listed Fornite Battle Royale as the number one most downloaded game in the United States. Across all app categories, it landed in the number two slot, though it is worth noting that the rankings reflect downloads during a set period of time and not an all-time download record. The mobile app has some interesting quirks worth mentioning though, namely that the mobile version of the previously PC and Console only game … [Read more...] about Though invite-only, Fortnite Battle Royale tops iOS charts at launch
There’s an official Friday the 13th game coming from the makers of Slayaway Camp
There's a new, officially licensed Friday the 13th game on the way, and it's being developed by Blue Wizard Digital, maker of the wonderful Slayaway Camp. Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle, as the game is known, was announced at the tail end of last year. However, two things of note have happened since then: firstly, it soft launched on iOS in the US this week. Secondly, its global release date has now been confirmed as....yes...Friday, April 13th, when it will launch on iOS, Android, and Steam. Slayaway Camp, for those unfamiliar, is brilliant, playing out something like a sokoban sliding block puzzler - albeit enthusiastically themed around classic 80s horror movies. Each isometric, single-screen puzzle drops you into the shoes of a faintly-familiar-if-not-quite-official cinematic serial killer, then tasks you with plotting a route around the stage (you can only move in the four cardinal directions) in order to off every bystander in sight. It's superbly entertaining stuff, made all the … [Read more...] about There’s an official Friday the 13th game coming from the makers of Slayaway Camp
