The inclusion of Persona 5‘s Joker in Super Smash Bros Ultimate was certainly something a lot of fans didn’t see coming. This latest iteration in the famed fighting game series features a slew of third-party characters like Snake, Cloud, Ryu, Mega Man, and Simon Belmont that all still feel a bit surreal to play as today. Suffice it to say, Ren Amamiya’s confirmed spot on the roster has opened the door to a variety of other gaming mascots. President and COO of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime, did say at this year’s Game Awards that every new DLC fighter will be unexpected. Keeping this in mind, check out our predictions for what other third-party characters could be included in the title going forward. Third-Party Characters in Super Smash Bros Ultimate – Sora (Kingdom Hearts) Now that Square Enix is on board with the Super Smash Bros series via Cloud Strife, it seems natural for it to include another one of its most recognizable … [Read more...] about Third-Party Characters That Could Join Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Fighting games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat have found comfy homes on PC, and even Soul Calibur is making the jump in its next installment. But we're still lacking in platform fighters like Nintendo's Super Smash Bros., though Smash Bros. itself can of course be played on an emulator. Games like Brawlhalla have captured some of the same magic (and are plenty fun in their own right), but I reckon there's still a space for another great platform fighter. Nintendo hit hard this week with a packed Nintendo Direct, but the biggest announcement that hit the hardest was the surprising reveal of what appears to be a brand new Smash Bros. game for the Nintendo Switch. Like pretty much anyone else watching the Direct, you can bet that I was HYPED for the fact that we’re getting a new Smash Bros., and my reaction to the announcement looked a lot like this: In the grand scheme of things, it was only a matter of time before we got some kind of confirmation that Super Smash Bros. would be coming to the Switch, but the fact that the announcement came from a seemingly ordinary Nintendo Direct in March (and not during the middle of E3 like many would have expected) made it that much more of a bombshell. Naturally, that … [Read more...] about Super Smash Bros. is Coming to the Switch: What Characters Can We Hope to See?
