Uh oh, here she goes again. “Does anyone want to tell Alice that The Sims 4 is the worst iteration in the Sims series?” No, you don’t need to tell me, I know it’s not the best. The Sims 3 will forever be dear to my heart, what with its cars and lack of loading screens, but The Sims 4 does its best by having more tools and options. A lot can be said for its overpriced expansions, that are severely lacking in stuff for their price, but we should really be thankful for those ‘Create A Sim’ options and the intricate houses that are now possible. EA are super good at listening to Sims fans, patching swimming pools and toddlers into the game for free after there was an (unsurprising) outcry at the lack of both of these when the game came out. It’s been around for four years now and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down, what with the Get Famous expansion pack only being released this November. I’ll be honest here, I am 100% that Sims … [Read more...] about Have You Played… The Sims 4?

The first Maxis Monthly livestream took place today, airing a State of the Union for the Sims titles. While there were some announcements for Sims FreePlay and Mobile, like a pregnancy feature and community events, the largest announcement was for the next Sims 4 patch. The next update patch has been delayed past October, but when it launches, it will be a free update adding a new career and terrain tools for build mode. Style Influencers will allow players to show off their Sims and their carefully designed outfits. Your long hours deciding between jeans and slacks haven’t had a tangible influence in the game before, but as Style Influencers, Sims can have fashion blogs. Sims will start as the humble Rag Reviewer, and can climb the ranks to being a fashion icon. Style Influencer is a work-from-home career, which means your Sim doesn’t go into the office and become inaccessible for hours a day. While you’re at home, you can make over Sims (NPC or otherwise) in your … [Read more...] about The Sims 4 update will add new career and long-awaited terrain tools
I have always thought I would be a good parent - upstanding and wise, like Atticus Finch. But those close to me disagree. The consensus is that I am too career focused, busy, and impatient to care for a real child right now. And as my spider-like offspring scrambles around the fridge, looking for leftover potato chips, while I am busy seducing the widow next door, I have to say - maybe they’re right. If only raising a family was as easy as it is in The Sims. All you have to do with Sim children is feed them a sandwich every once in a while, wait for the schoolbus to pick them up, play with them every few days, and hire a nanny for when you are at work. Can’t afford a nanny? Pop in the motherlode cheat and you’re sitting pretty for the rest of your Sim’s life. Unfortunately, the reality is that raising children is hell. If anyone knows this, it is the designers behind the original The Sims, who juggled their family life to bring us our virtual, Stepford one. … [Read more...] about The real family struggles behind the creation of The Sims
In what will very likely prove to be the day's strangest videogame crossover, although let's not rule anything completely out yet, Square Enix and Electronic Arts are bringing Sims 4 outfits to Final Fantasy 15 Windows Edition on Origin. And not just any Sims costumes, oh no: I'm talking about the Llama Suit and Plumbob, wearable by Noctis in the FF15 single-player campaign. The Sims 4 costume pack will be included with all purchases of Final Fantasy 15 on Origin until May 1. The FF15 Decal Selection, "an array of cool and colorful decals" that you can plaster on the Regalia (that's the big-ass car the boys like to cruise around in) is also on the table for anyone who preorders from Origin. The EA deal works the other way around, too. Beginning March 8, a crowned prince Noctis Lucis Caelum outfit will be available for Sims 4 players. It's an amusingly odd crossover, but not quite unique. Purchasing the game on Steam will get you a Half-Life costume and crowbar … [Read more...] about EA adds some weird Sims 4 costumes to Final Fantasy 15 Windows Editions
