World of Warcraft fans are riled up over datamines of a potential betrayal and bears made of wood and bone
Blizzard hasn't officially said much about the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, Battle for Azeroth. But just because information isn't being blasted in PR form or hype trailers doesn't mean it isn't there. As it turns out, if you want to know what's next for the longrunning MMORPG, you need to be keeping an eye on datamines of the BfA alpha. Dedicated fans have already uncovered tons of new assets, lore, and class changes by combing through code, and the more that's unearthed, the more it looks like Blizzard is playing coy by taking its hands off the wheel and letting fans steer pre-release hype themselves. Let me show you what I mean: Foxy ladies coming your way Since the alpha launched in January, loads of datamining has been related to the new fox-like race, the Vulpera. It was obvious from the start that the Vulpera used the same skeleton as Goblins, but then more and more evidence came piling on. They have a reputation tracker (one of the things needed to unlock an allied … [Read more...] about World of Warcraft fans are riled up over datamines of a potential betrayal and bears made of wood and bone

World of Warcraft expansion Battle for Azeroth will be released this summer
Blizzard has said Battle for Azeroth, the seventh World of Warcraft expansion, will launch this summer - a date further clarified to mean on or before 21st September 2018. Pre-purchasing the expansion - buying it outright ahead of time - comes with benefits. One of those is an immediately available free boost to the game's current level cap of 110; another is a head start on quests to unlock Allied Races in the full Battle for Azeroth expansion. It's not clear how much of the quests you can complete. A more expensive Digital Deluxe Edition (£53) offers a Seabraid Stallion Alliance mount or Gilded Ravasaur Horde mount in World of Warcraft, and a cute baby Tortollan pet. There are also some voice lines, sprays and icons for Overwatch; a Hearthstone card back; a Heroes of the Storm Flamesaber mount; and Horde and Alliance StarCraft 2 sprays. Battle for Azeroth is heavily inspired by Warcraft's real-time strategy past and aims to push the Horde and Alliance back into competing against … [Read more...] about World of Warcraft expansion Battle for Azeroth will be released this summer
World of Warcraft just got a major change and it might as well be World of Warcraft 2
You ever wonder if Blizzard is going to make a World of Warcraft 2? Well, it just did. A small patch at the tail end of World of Warcraft: Legion has completely changed the MMO, and in many ways brings it in line with contemporary, shared world games. But let's rewind a bit first. When Blizzard launched the Legion expansion in August 2016, one of the major changes it brought was level scaling. Legion wasn't like previous expansions - or any part of WoW's history - where zones had monsters and quests with designated level requirements. Instead, players could explore most of the new areas at their leisure, completing quests (largely) in whatever order they wanted. One region was reserved for players who had hit the new level cap, and story missions still needed to be experienced in order, though. It was lauded as a massive success, and players enjoyed the newfound freedom. Patch 7.3.5, which went live on January 16, brings level scaling to the game's old content. This includes not only … [Read more...] about World of Warcraft just got a major change and it might as well be World of Warcraft 2
