With Under the Shadow and Wounds , British-Iranian filmmaker Babak Anvari announced himself as a bracingly fresh voice in the supernatural horror genre. But there’s more than one string to Anvari’s fearsome bow, as evidenced by I Came By, a "Hitchcockian neo-noir crime thriller" that also proves the British film industry doesn’t make them like it used to. "I find it interesting that we’ve lost touch with the whole Hitchcockian genre in Britain," Anvari tells Total Film in the new issue, featuring Thor: Love and Thunder on the cover . "So it’s really exciting for me to take inspiration from the master and try to do something in that vein, in modern times." Set in contemporary inner-city London, the film stars George MacKay as Toby and Percelle Ascott as Jay, graffiti artists and income-inequality avengers who break into the homes of the city’s wealthy elite only to tag their walls with a three-word insignia – 'I Came By' – before slipping away into the night. "It’s … [Read more...] about Under The Shadow director Babak Anvari talks his new “Hitchcockian neo-noir crime thriller”

Canceled Scarface 2 game looks extremely 2009 in new footage of prototype
New footage of canceled open-world game Scarface: Empire, the sequel to 2006's Scarface: The World is Yours, has popped up online. Mafia Game Videos (opens in new tab) , an aptly named Youtube channel dedicated to games about the mafia, shared a few minutes of Scarface: Empire footage in a recent video, fleshing out some ideas and environments spotted in recently unearthed (opens in new tab) concept art. The premise of the game, according to one former developer cited in the video, was that series lead Tony Montana moved his cocaine empire to Las Vegas as Miami drug regulations got stricter. Scarface: Empire saw Tony build his own Vegas casino to circumvent the local mob and provide a front for his new drug ring, taking out mob big-wigs behind the scenes to grease the wheels. We can see some of that concept in action in these brief gameplay snippets. The footage is taken from an incomplete build, but even at this stage, it looks like a competent enough … [Read more...] about Canceled Scarface 2 game looks extremely 2009 in new footage of prototype
Elden Ring and Dark Souls developer says it’s working on “multiple new projects”
Elden Ring and Dark Souls developer FromSoftware says that it's hiring for "multiple new projects." In a tweet (opens in new tab) posted earlier today (translated via Microsoft), the studio said that it had "started recruiting staff for a wide range of positions for multiple new projects," and directed prospective candidates to its careers page. That page suggests that new staff will be at the "core" of several new projects, and lists a wide array of roles, including game design, programming, art design, and animation. It's difficult to get a full sense of what the studio is working on from these listings, but it's worth noting that the Game Planner (opens in new tab) role suggests that the projects are early in development, asking staff to "verbalize ideas and concepts and create the core part of the game." FromSoft is also hiring a Research and Development (opens in new tab) role, aiming to "raise the level of development capabilities" within the studio. … [Read more...] about Elden Ring and Dark Souls developer says it’s working on “multiple new projects”
Star Wars actor opens up about his big Obi-Wan Kenobi cameo
A prominent Star Wars actor has explained why he returned to cameo in the Obi-Wan Kenobi finale after decades away from appearing in live-action. Spoilers for Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 6 follow. In the closing moments of the Obi-Wan Kenobi finale, Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi finally came face-to-face with the Force Ghost of his former master Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson) – who was killed by Darth Maul in 1999’s The Phantom Menace. On the reasons behind his return, Neeson told The Hollywood Reporter (opens in new tab) , "I certainly didn’t want anyone else playing Qui-Gon Jinn, and I wanted to show my respect for George [Lucas] and that mythical world that he created." Neeson added, "Plus, Ewan [McGregor] is a pal, and I loved working with him during The Phantom Menace 25 years ago." While we haven’t seen Qui Gon-Jinn in live-action for some time, though his presence was keenly felt elsewhere in the franchise. He was one of several voices who helped … [Read more...] about Star Wars actor opens up about his big Obi-Wan Kenobi cameo
New Apex Legends Awakening Collection Event Trailer Unveils Valkyrie’s Heirloom
Respawn Entertainment has just announced Apex Legends ' latest in-game event: the Awakening Collection Event. A new gameplay trailer reveals the event's collection of stunning cosmetics, including an Heirloom weapon for Valkyrie which will become available once the event goes live. The Awakening Collection Event will also see the return of the fan-favorite Control LTM , along with the debut of Lifeline's Town Takeover. Control, a limited-time game mode run by Silva Pharmaceuticals and Chevrex, is returning to the game in the wake of Apex Legends' most recent episode of Stories From the Outlands. Released earlier this week, the new episode focused on Lifeline and Octane's troubled relationship with their parents, who staged a hostile takeover of both Lifeline's Frontier Corps and the Mercenary Syndicate itself last season. With this in mind, it seems that Control's return--and Lifeline's Town Takeover--are directly connected to recent plot developments. New The Raid movie is a “reimagining” of the original, not a remake
The new Raid movie isn't strictly a remake, director Patrick Hughes has said. The upcoming film will be set in Philadelphia's "Badlands," and will follow a DEA task force undercover on the hunt for the city's kingpin. "It's not a remake as such, it's a reimagining and it's taking what was so incredibly crazy with that hook. It's a very nitty-gritty, real world in that. Stepping into the straight action-thriller, but it's on that saga level and that's a project that I'm really, really excited about," Hughes told ComicBook.com (opens in new tab) . "There's not too much I'm allowed to say, but it is something where we're really... I'm excited because I have come off a big run of doing action comedies and I love that genre and I'm certainly going to be working [in] it again in the future, but for now, I've got two projects and the other's a big action, sci-fi, horror, thriller, survival, epic movie," he continued. "There are just a couple of different genres I want to step into … [Read more...] about New The Raid movie is a “reimagining” of the original, not a remake
Warzone’s new map summons a loot-filled zombie when you press F to pay respects
Call of Duty: Warzone's new Fortune's Keep map, which was added as part of the big season 4 update this week, has an Easter egg that lets you summon a loot-filled zombie when you "pay respect" to an old meme. As detailed in a video from TheGamingRevolution, there's a little ritual you need to perform to summon Warzone's new meme zombie. If you find a few seconds of peace in-between making mince meat out of operators with the newly buffed NZ-41 rifle, you can light five candles around the graveyard area of the Fortune's Keep map. That'll unlock a prompt at a specific headstone that lets you "press F (or whatever your controller's equivalent is) to pay respects." This is, of course, a reference to a popular meme (opens in new tab) spawned by an awkward scene in 2014's Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. A few seconds later, a zombie will appear in front of the gravestone rocking a familiar T pose from Black Ops Cold War's season 2 Outbreak event. Shoot the zombie dead and … [Read more...] about Warzone’s new map summons a loot-filled zombie when you press F to pay respects
A new Breath of the Wild glitch has been discovered and it’s “busted as hell”
A newfound Breath of the Wild glitch lets players duplicate item slots and take items with them into a new save file – yes, even the Bow of Light. As shared by the YouTube channel Gaming Reinvented (opens in new tab) , there is a way to duplicate item slots and transfer items into new save files in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild . In the video, we get to not only see this glitch in action but also find out exactly how to pull it off ourselves. You can watch the full video and find out how it’s done below. Just like it’s explained in the video, this is a slightly complicated glitch to pull off. If you want to try it yourself though, all players need to do is firstly overload the number of Shock Arrows in the game by equipping a multi-shot bow, aiming a shock arrow, dropping the bow, and repeating the sequence until the glitch kicks in and Link is missing a few body parts in the menu. Next, stay in the menu and get Link to hold up to four different … [Read more...] about A new Breath of the Wild glitch has been discovered and it’s “busted as hell”
