Talking to Sam Barlow is kind of like playing through his most celebrated game. Pop in a keyword and it'll send him on a spiral of thought, looping through different topics and themes before landing back somewhere familiar. It's as if his thought patterns have been rewired by the games he's been working on, evolved into some kind of non-linear sprawl that his conversation invites you to tug away at until you find a thread that might take you somewhere new. Even his accent flits around in some hard to pin down nether region between Yorkshire where he was born, Tanzania where he spent some of the childhood or New York where he calls home now. It's been some four years since Her Story, the fascinating interactive movie and meditation on narrative devices that earned numerous plaudits that helped make Barlow - already well-known for his work on Climax's Silent Hill games as well as its unreleased Legacy of Kain title - much in demand. He's hardly been absent in the time since - there was … [Read more...] about Secrets and lies: unearthing the ambitious follow-up to Her Story
Players believe a room hidden within The Division 2 is communicating secrets by way of lights flashing Morse code. While we've not intentionally included any plot or story information in this story, there may be accidental spoilers here, so if you've yet to play or would prefer to uncover this for yourself, please click away now.According to a Reddit thread (thanks, Joe Parlock), players believe the lights may be intimating clues about a hidden - or possibly upcoming - mission concerning the Washington Court Hotel. Phillips Protocol side mission after it, you go into the house, open the doors, and mission complete, inside there's some loot and that's it..." wrote u/Ancop. "Something is off. First, remember Manny telling you it was morse code? Well, this lamp is flickering in a pattern."You can see how it dims and stops in a pattern. Then there's this downstairs - after you shoot out the lightbulbs there are those flashlights aimed … [Read more...] about Is The Division 2 sending secret messages via flashing lights and Morse code?
RANDI Zuckerberg was brought in by her brother to work at Facebook in 2004 when the fledgling start-up had just 50 employees. She worked in the live video department of the social network but says by 2011 she felt she had no choice but to leave. "I hated being the only woman in almost every room that I was in for 10 straight years," she told CNN. "And I always thought, you know, gosh, I want to be part of the solution, not continue to be part of the problem. "So I think maybe I need to step outside of Silicon Valley and really understand where we’re losing women and where we’re losing girls in this funnel." Ms Zuckerberg says that little has changed since her days at the social network. "One of the things that I did realise is that I desperately wanted to see a world where there was more representation from women in the room," she said. "And I can’t understand why, after 15 years, it’s changed so little." Ms Zuckerberg offers a strange piece of advice to … [Read more...] about Mark Zuckerberg’s sister Randi admits she HATED working at Facebook – because ‘she was the only woman in the room for 10 years’
Hotel Artemis's basic premise is simple: Make an entire movie about the Continental scenes from John Wick. The Continental is John Wick's network of secret hotels for criminals, where doctors wait on-call to patch you up after a gunfight, and the staff will dutifully kick you out and/or murder you for breaking any of the establishment's many rules. That's basically Hotel Artemis, but the whole movie. And with an all star cast, moody set and visual design, and a tense, tight script, it's pretty damn good. What Hotel Artemis isn't: an action movie. With the trailers and the unavoidable John Wick comparison, you might go in expecting one, and you'll come out somewhat disappointed. Structurally, Hotel Artemis is more like a play, set almost entirely in one location, and with a small cast of characters who you get to know intimately through generously paced scenes full of expository conversations.Near-future Los Angeles is on lockdown in Hotel Artemis thanks to violent rioting against … [Read more...] about Hotel Artemis Review: A Character Piece In John Wick’s Style
