As a launch title for Microsoft’s Xbox One back in 2013, Ryse: Son of Rome was, in a way, carrying the entire machine on its shoulders. Sony’s PlayStation 4 had launched just the week before, and Microsoft had to prove itself after a disastrous console reveal. What was originally meant to be a Kinect title, the game was also in development by Crytek, developers of the gorgeous, PC-melting Crysis series. Taking their graphical expertise away from modern times and into the past, Ryse was the prettiest launch game on either console. But, the game released to average reception. Nobody dismissed the powerful CryEngine visuals, but people did criticize the repetitive gameplay and lack of staying power for a launch title. Of course, with the game being the first showcase of a new console generation, people will skew their perceptions. Pretty. Pretty repetitive that is. That’s not to mention PlayStation 4’s The Order: 1886. Similar to Ryse, The Order was a … [Read more...] about Ryse: Son of Rome Remains A Worthwhile Experience Just Begging For A Sequel

Xbox has unveiled the newest titles that will be added to Xbox Game Pass starting today and it’s a pretty darn good lineup. Among the seven new games that have been added, Hitman is likely the most noteworthy title of the bunch. Ryse: Son of Rome is one of those games that have made an impact in players’ hearts even though it didn’t manage to make a huge name for itself. Fans of the game still hope that a sequel might be released at some point and there might be a chance to it. At least Microsoft’s Mike Ybarra “remembers it”, that must mean something right? Today, corporate vice president of Microsoft, Mike Ybarra tweeted a picture of a statue of Marius, the protagonist of Ryse: Son of Rome followed by the line “I remember him”. Could this be a tease of something related to the game or was this purely a homage to it?
