Epic Games buys Fall Guys developer

· March 2, 2021 ·

Fall Guys developer Mediatonic has been purchased by Epic Games, according to the Epic Newsroom announcement . The news broke Tuesday, March 2 by Bloomberg's Jason Schreier , then followed up shortly after by the official Fall Guys Twitter account and Epic Games themselves. Both companies promise that Fall Guys gameplay "isn't changing" and "Epic will continue to invest in making the game a great experience for [players across platforms." The game will still be available on PC, PS4, and PS5, and will still release on Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X "soon." “Beyond the shared vision among our teams, we see tremendous potential in combining forces with Epic. Whether it’s about making our own games the best they can be or empowering other game developers to take their content from a kernel of an idea to commercial success, we know that together we will be able to reach greater heights," says Tonic Games Group co-founder, Paul Croft. Mediatonic released a blog … [Read more...] about Epic Games buys Fall Guys developer

Outriders dev explains all those pesky loading cutscenes

· March 2, 2021 ·

If you've been playing the Outriders demo since it came out last week, you may have picked up on an annoyance: loading cutscenes. The third-person looter shooter game from People Can Fly (Bulletstorm, Gears of War: Judgment) plays a short cutscene whenever you want to move to a new area. These cutscenes show everything from a character opening a door to climbing a ledge. They include a full fade to black opening before playing the cutscene, then another fade to black before you get back into the action. These cutscenes sometimes border on the hilarious. One I noticed while playing saw my character perform a dramatic jump across a broken bridge: Not sure I need a cutscene for that jump, Outriders pic.twitter.com/djZ25EyHhO — Wesley Yin-Poole (@wyp100) February 28, 2021 This content is hosted on an external platform, which will only display it if you accept targeting cookies. · March 2, 2021 ·

Ariana Greenblatt, the actress who played Young Gamora in the Avengers movies, will play Tiny Tina in the Borderlands movie. Greenblatt joins Cate Blanchett (Lilith), Kevin Hart (Roland), Jamie Lee Curtis (Dr. Tannis), and Jack Black (Claptrap) in the movie based on Gearbox's shooter series. Tiny Tina is described as an "unstable 13-year-old explosive expert". "Ariana is a spectacular new talent in cinema," director Eli Roth told The Hollywood Reporter . "She has already worked with many of my close collaborators and everyone raves about her. She blew us all away in her audition, and I cannot wait to see her bring the wild, insane and unpredictable Tiny Tina to the big screen. She's going to blow up on screen like one of Tina's grenades." Here's Greenblatt as Young Gamora in 2018's Avengers: Infinity War: Video game Tiny Tina is voiced by Ashly Burch (Aloy in Horizon Zero Dawn, Chloe Price in Life Is Strange, Parvati Holcomb from The Outer Worlds, and more). Here's the … [Read more...] about Young Gamora actress Ariana Greenblatt to play Tiny Tina in Borderlands movie

Does AMD need to announce its own GPU hashrate limiter to combat cryptocurrency mining?

· March 2, 2021 ·

AMD's Where Gaming Begins Episode 3 stream tomorrow will introduce us all to the AMD RX 6700 XT graphics card. That's where we'll get the basic low-down on the specs and performance of the new Navi 22-based GPU ahead of launch sometime in mid-March. But, inevitably, the first thing that people are going to be asking about the new Radeon graphics card is: Am I going to be able to buy one? The second question, linked to that first, will be: What the hell are you doing about miners? The graphics card market is in a pickle at the moment, to say the least. A perfect storm of pandemic-based production and supply chain problems has mixed with a huge spike in demand from stay-at-home PC gamers and the exponential rise in the profitability of GPU-based cryptocurrency mining, all combining to create a market where it's all but impossible to bag yourself a new card at anything like MSRP. Into this both the green team, with the Nvidia RTX 3060 , and team Radeon, with the AMD RX 6700 … [Read more...] about Does AMD need to announce its own GPU hashrate limiter to combat cryptocurrency mining?
