Rainbow Six Siege Year 4 is bearing down on us with the promise of another eight meta-defining operators, new maps, CTUs, and plenty more. After last year kicked off with the limited time PvE event, Outbreak, there is also a slim chance that Year 4 will deliver more than new gadgets and guns. Interestingly, we heard about Outbreak and the roadmap for last year long before its release date – there was even a lengthy ARG to build hype for the zombie-slaying game mode. However, Ubisoft Montreal is yet to release any information on the upcoming year of Rainbow Six Siege updates. Fortunately, the dedicated Rainbow Six Siege community, the odd easter egg, and some leaks give us a good starting point as to what to expect from Year 4 of the tactical multiplayer shooter. Already we know of a couple of upcoming gadgets that future Rainbow 6 team members will use, not to mention a potential nod to an upcoming CTU or map location. Here is everything we know about Rainbow Six Siege Year 4, … [Read more...] about Rainbow Six Siege Year 4: operators, release date, roadmap – all the latest details

Rainbow Six Siege review bombed amid China censorship backlash
Following last week’s announcement that Ubisoft would be tweaking the aesthetics of Rainbow Six Siege maps and UI to comply with Chinese game regulations, the most vocal corner of the game’s community is in an uproar. Over the weekend, upset fans bombarded Siege with negative reviews, dropping its reception to “mixed” on Steam. In the past few days, almost 1,500 negative reviews have appeared, the vast majority of them condemning Ubi’s alterations for the Chinese market. The fervor has been mostly centered around the game’s official subreddit. Many users see Ubi’s willingness to change anything about the game to appeal to China as offensive, as posts with tens of thousands of collective upvotes rose to the top of the subreddit.“By adhering to Chinese censorship they are cooperating with a dictatorship. Like wtf Ubi you can't do this shit! This against what the West stands for!” exclaimed a post by redditor Zarvoth. The most active … [Read more...] about Rainbow Six Siege review bombed amid China censorship backlash
Rainbow Six Siege’s new Villa map is Ubisoft’s map design at its best
It is my first match back after a two-month break from Rainbow Six Siege, and I am running around its newest map, Villa, in a daze. Every corridor looks the same, I have no idea how to get to the objective rooms, and I keep getting killed by enemies sitting in unseen corners. In other words, it feels exactly the way a Rainbow Six Siege map should feel when you jump in for the first time. Villa took a full nine months to put together, with the layout envisaged by one designer. The extra attention to detail has paid off. It’s perhaps the best-looking map Ubisoft has made—I could live on its upper floor with its pool table, comfy study, and massive walk-in wardrobe—but its brilliance goes past mere good looks. While it feels like a maze at first, it only takes 20 minutes in a custom game before you start to get to grips with it and notice clever layout choices. Leather sofas are expertly placed so that, if you get in the right position, they provide cover from a … [Read more...] about Rainbow Six Siege’s new Villa map is Ubisoft’s map design at its best
Rainbow Six Siege’s Doc elite skin casts him as a WW1 trench medic
A new elite skin for Rainbow Six Siege has been leaked. The Doc elite skin, Trench Medic, takes Rainbow Six’s resident medic back to World War One (although admittedly his gear remains something a little more akin to the modern-day warfare that defines Rainbow Six Siege). The leak stems from Rainbow Six Siege YouTube channel R6S News, which has regularly revealed new elite skins in the past. Doc’s elite skin is the blue worn by French forces throughout World War One (blue uniforms were used by the French army until 1935) determining that his new skin is definitely inspired by that particular conflict. He also wears an Adrian helmet, which was worn by French troops from 1915 onwards. A particular highlight is Doc's dashing new moustache - a definite improvement on his usual and slightly eerie surgical mask. To highlight his role as a medic, Doc also sports an armband on his left arm. Rainbow Six Siege is an excellent tactical shooter, but why not check out our list of the … [Read more...] about Rainbow Six Siege’s Doc elite skin casts him as a WW1 trench medic
Rainbow Six Siege Operation White Noise mid-season patch nerfs Ela, Ash, concussion effects
Rainbow Six Siege developer Ubisoft has kicked off this year’s balance updates with the Operation White Noise mid-season patch. The update goes live today on Rainbow Six Siege’s test servers, bringing a host of balance changes and bug fixes, as is typical with mid-season patches. Some of these, like the Ela nerf, were communicated ahead of time. Ubisoft did not set a date for when patch 4.2 will hit live servers just yet. Starting off with Ela, her SMG’s magazine size has been lowered from 50 to 40 bullets. This was done partially to make her less desirable as a pick, since she’s very popular right now which is affecting the metagame. Ela is also getting another nerf, but that’s because concussion effects are getting reduced across the board. Both Ela, and Zofia will be affected by this. Concussion will no longer disable sprinting, but will still to cut movement and camera rotation speed. Concussed players will be able to recover in four seconds instead of … [Read more...] about Rainbow Six Siege Operation White Noise mid-season patch nerfs Ela, Ash, concussion effects
