The 3.0 patch notes for League of Legends: Wild Rift have been released, and along with a brand-new Champion comes a new way to play LoL on the go. The new hero is Sett, a leader in the Ionian criminal underground. Sett is a Fighter class champion, using abilities like Knuckle Down to buff his attacks and Facebreaker to attack multiple enemies at once. Sett joins the Wild Rift roster on January 26. Also coming to Wild Rift in the 3.0 patch is a returning mode called Ultra Rapid Fire (URF). This is a faster, more streamlined version of the core League of Legends experience that allows Champions to access their special attacks more often than usual, resulting in full matches running about half as long as usual. The URF map this time around will have a Lunar New Year theme, which will also be celebrated through limited time skins and accessories. The full League of Legends: Wild Rift 3.0 patch notes are below. Photography games have been on trend lately. Just last year among major publishers there's been Pokémon Snap and the re-release of a maligned Fatal Frame game. You don't have to look far to see that every triple-A game these days has a photo mode, but if you extend your gaze beyond that you'll see independent developers have been the ones pushing the genre forward. Games like Umurangi Generation, Alba: A Wildlife Adventure, and the upcoming Pupperazi show the emerging genre has as much range as, say, the first-person shooter. TOEM is one of the most charming and recent examples in this space, a game about exploring and taking pictures as you move through pocket-sized communities. But TOEM didn't start as a photo game. It began simply as a non-violent game that would allow the player to stop and appreciate the game's illustrative art style. The original idea spawned from a conversation two friends had about leaving game development forever. TOEM might not be their Final Fantasy, but … [Read more...] about On the growing appeal of photography games
Elden Ring's map runes have been deciphered by a group of fans in China, using an ancient language. A video recently emerged from Chinese YouTube channel YYSTV, detailing how a group of Elden Ring fans managed to analyze and decode runes on the game's map. In short, a group of Chinese fans realized that the runes on Elden Ring's map are that of the Yi script, an ancient language used by the ethnic Yi people. Deciphering these runes was no short work, largely because only a very small percentage of the Chinese population still actively uses the dialogue. After the group reached out to a fellow Chinese fan of Elden Ring - and noted that if they couldn't properly speak Yi, the game's Japanese developers probably couldn't either - the wheels eventually got turning. The group managed to decipher that the in-game runes are being written by the map's original in-game owner. Markers are dotted all over the map, as you can probably imagine, denoting the intimidating … [Read more...] about How Elden Ring fans used a little-known Chinese dialect to decode the game’s map

If you're looking to do some quick cosplay as the least-interesting character in Ubisoft's Watch Dogs series, then fashion brand SuperGroupies has you covered . The company is releasing a watch, coat, bag, and wallet that has been inspired by the vigilante fashion of Watch Dogs' first protagonist, Aiden Pearce, with preorders opening up from today and until February 6. The main piece of this ensemble, a $230 coat, is modeled after the one used in-game by Aiden Pearce and stylized for daily use. It also comes with a black mask cover imitating Aiden's neckwarmer scarf that doubles as a hacktivist disguise. Don't do crime though; that's strictly illegal stuff. Moving on to the accessories, you can keep time with a $220 chronograph watch that has a black and white view of Chicago from the ctOS on the main dial and an "Everything is Under CTRL" metallic inscription. The 60-minute and 60-second chronograph counters also sport a DedSec logo-inspired ASCII art skull emblem and the Fox … [Read more...] about Watch Dogs Fashion Line Will Dress You Up As A Boring-But-Stylish Hacker
While Diablo II: Resurrected's upcoming patch 2.4 isn't live on the game's public test servers just yet, a number of the new Runewords that will be coming with the patch have been revealed by different Diablo-focused content creators. As reported by Wowhead , three new Runewords have been detailed so far. Streamer Dbrunski125 recently detailed the Unbending Will Runeword, content creator Rhykker unveiled the Mist Runeword, and Korean streamer Shery revealed the Wisdom Runeword. Unbending Will looks to be tailored towards sword-wielding Barbarian players (and mercenaries), granting attacks a chance to cast taunt, +3 to combat skills, increased attack speed, enhanced damage, extra attack rating, lifesteal, and much more. Mist is a five socket Runeword for bows or crossbows and looks like it will be a great fit for both the Amazon class and the game's Act I mercenary. The Runeword grants a level 9 concentration aura, +3 to all skills, piercing attacks, increased attack … [Read more...] about New Diablo 2: Resurrected Runewords For Patch 2.4 Revealed
Microsoft's planned acquisition of Activision Blizzard is a massive shift in the gaming industry that would place huge franchises like Call of Duty and World of Warcraft under the Xbox umbrella. The continued consolidation in the industry has raised questions among the community of antitrust violations and if that could impact the deal. GameSpot spoke with lawyer Richard Hoeg, who said these potential pitfalls are unlikely to scuttle the acquisition altogether. However, the deal will certainly attract the close attention of the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Department of Justice (DOJ), and regulators could request some changes that make the acquisition look different than initially planned. To start, he said, Microsoft is likely to argue that the overall gaming market is so broad that this level of consolidation doesn't pose a risk to competition. "That said, in the US both the FTC and DOJ have expressed more willingness to evaluate such deals than they have in … [Read more...] about Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard Acquisition Likely To Be Scrutinized By Regulators, Says Legal Expert
Microsoft announced plans to acquire Activision Blizzard today , making it the company's largest acquisition ever--not just in gaming, but across all industries . The proposed $70 billion deal will mean Microsoft owns the rights to some of the biggest franchises in gaming, including Call of Duty and World of Warcraft . But following Activision's stewardship of annualization and tumult over harassment, what kind of studio culture is Microsoft buying? When Microsoft bought studios like Obsidian or Double Fine, it was easy to understand the types of expertise and culture the company was buying. As an elevator pitch, you could say that Obsidian is known for mechanically complex RPGs, and Double Fine is known for its quirky humor. You can understand right away how these fold into the Microsoft umbrella to complement and round out their existing corporate and creative structures. Microsoft's previously largest gaming acquisition, Bethesda, was similarly clear across its slate of … [Read more...] about What Kind Of Culture Is Microsoft Buying In Activision Blizzard Acquisition Deal?
The news that Microsoft is acquiring Call of Duty publisher Activision Blizzard brings with it a lot of baggage. In addition to a number of studios, Activision owns the intellectual property rights to a huge number of games and series. So when the news of the Microsoft acquisition broke, many players immediately wondered if that meant the Xbox maker would now own From Software's Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice . Publishers often acquire the IP rights to games as part of their publishing deals--but that's not always the case. When it comes to Sekiro, the copyright for the game remains with From Software , not with Activision. Thus, while Microsoft is getting a whole lot of brands in the deal, from Call of Duty to StarCraft to Crash Bandicoot, it's not acquiring Sekiro. With Sekiro remaining independent, it means that Microsoft can't immediately add the game to its Xbox Game Pass subscription service, as it has done with Bethesda games after its other big recent acquisition. That … [Read more...] about Will Microsoft Now Own Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice?
