Lost Ark's next major update is on the horizon, but when it does arrive on June 30, it won't include a previously promised feature--Yoz's Jar. In a new blog post outlining features coming to the free-to-play MMO in the Wrath of the Covetous Legion update, Lost Ark's Western publisher Amazon states the Yoz's Jar cosmetics system described in the game's recent roadmap won't be featured in the upcoming update as originally planned. The jar would have introduced a new cosmetic system into Lost Ark, and while it was primarily just for fashion purposes, epic and legendary skins obtained through Yoz's Jar would have granted 1% or 2% attack power increases, depending on rarity. Yoz's Jar cosmetics would have been obtainable from the in-game store via Royal Crystals. The skins could then be sold on the player-to-player market. Players can exchange non-premium currencies like gold for premium ones like Royal Crystals through an in-game exchange system. Therefore, it would have … [Read more...] about Lost Ark June Update Will Not Include Pay-To-Win Cosmetics, Amazon Says

George R.R. Martin confirms Jon Snow sequel series in development and reveals working title
A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin has confirmed reports that a Jon Snow-centered Game of Thrones sequel series is in development, adding a few juicy morsels of information in the process. "Yes, there is a Jon Snow show in development," Martin wrote in a blog post published Thursday. The author noted that the report wasn't based on an official announcement from HBO, but rather a leak from an unknown source. Regardless, Martin confirmed that the Jon Snow sequel series is one of four live-action successors in development at HBO. Martin also revealed the working title for the series to simply be "Snow," a reference to the titular hero's informal last name, given to all bastards born in the North. "Snow has been in development almost as long as the other three, but for whatever reason it was never announced and it never leaked… until now," Martin added. Curiously, Martin also confirmed what Daenerys Targaryen actor Emilia Clarke had said in an earlier … [Read more...] about George R.R. How Elden Ring, The Hobbit, and Guitar Hero are shaping Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, the upcoming Soulslike from A44 Games, is a melting pot of ideas and inspirations. For one, it's the indirect follow-up to the developer's 2018 action role-player Ashen – a thoughtful slant on the genre which, whilst far from revolutionary, is a wonderful example of the formula executed well. The New Zealand outfit's next outing is also a Soulslike game, built in the looming shadow of Elden Ring – the biggest, most ambitious project Dark Souls mastermind FromSoftware has ever crafted, one which has undoubtedly set a new standard for other genre games to be compared against. And, in a previous life, members of the A44 Games team worked at Weta Digital, a special effects studio who helped bring the fantastical beasts of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit film series to life. Which is to say: the DNA that underwrites Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is multifaceted. And while creating a straight Ashen sequel might have an easier proposition for the developer's … [Read more...] about How Elden Ring, The Hobbit, and Guitar Hero are shaping Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn

Under The Shadow director Babak Anvari talks his new “Hitchcockian neo-noir crime thriller”
With Under the Shadow and Wounds , British-Iranian filmmaker Babak Anvari announced himself as a bracingly fresh voice in the supernatural horror genre. But there’s more than one string to Anvari’s fearsome bow, as evidenced by I Came By, a "Hitchcockian neo-noir crime thriller" that also proves the British film industry doesn’t make them like it used to. "I find it interesting that we’ve lost touch with the whole Hitchcockian genre in Britain," Anvari tells Total Film in the new issue, featuring Thor: Love and Thunder on the cover . "So it’s really exciting for me to take inspiration from the master and try to do something in that vein, in modern times." Set in contemporary inner-city London, the film stars George MacKay as Toby and Percelle Ascott as Jay, graffiti artists and income-inequality avengers who break into the homes of the city’s wealthy elite only to tag their walls with a three-word insignia – 'I Came By' – before slipping away into the night. "It’s … [Read more...] about Under The Shadow director Babak Anvari talks his new “Hitchcockian neo-noir crime thriller”
Yuji Naka Confirms That Michael Jackson Wrote Music For Sonic The Hedgehog 3 [Update]
Update: In a subsequent tweet , Yuji Naka sought to clarify what he meant, noting that he's using a translation tool to post in English, which he does not speak. In this (also translated) tweet, he noted, "I feel like I'm being misunderstood a lot." He also pointed to an official Sega TikTok video, which features Sonic and a Michael Jackson song. As such, it seems he was not attempting to confirm Jackson's involvement in the Sonic 3 soundtrack, though he also doesn't deny the long-running rumor. So for now, it appears this will remain a rumor. Deadpool 3 Writers Give An Update And Discuss Disney’s Influence
Deadpool 3 remains in development, and now writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have provided a status update on the project, including new commentary regarding Disney's influence. Speaking to The Playlist , Reese said, "We're in the laboratory working on it with Ryan Reynolds all the time, and we're very much entertaining ourselves." "So, hopefully, that translates and ultimately will entertain the world. But you know, it's a marriage between Fox and Disney and it's two different universes and it's not easy," Reese said. "But it's also a wonderful challenge and, you know, high-class problems to be able to merge those, those worlds. So, we're enjoying it." One of the sticking points with Deadpool 3 is figuring out the "bureaucracies" of it all from the shift from Fox to Disney as part of Disney's massive acquisition. But Reese sounded confident that things are in order for a smooth transition. "It was Fox, all these different people, and now it's not those people anymore. It's … [Read more...] about Deadpool 3 Writers Give An Update And Discuss Disney’s Influence
