Sony has begun to send out PS4 Firmware Update 6.50 invites to selective users in order to help them test out the newest version of the Playstation 4 firmware. While the update doesn’t have any major new features, the beta will be used to fine-tune the beta and make stability improvements. The Playstation 4 firmware updates are normally used to make improvements to the console’s firmware in general, helping to improve stability and other particularly earth-shaking updates. While that won’t be happening with the PS4 Firmware Update 6.50, the new update will still be making a number of minor adjustments for performance and stability. Sony Interactive Entertainment has been bringing steady firmware updates to PlayStation 4 and with PS4 firmware update 6.0, Sony is bringing a welcome change to the PS Store search UI that users have been asking for quite some time. Those who participated in the PS4 firmware update 6.0 Beta 3 are reporting that Sony has changed the PS Store search UI for the PlayStation 4 which is easier and faster for the users compared to the current one. As you can see in the images below, Sony Interactive Entertainment has changed the PS Store Search UI which is better than the original one. The original requires users to search by selecting a combination of alphabets from the list in the PS Store while with the new one this can be done with the keyboard. Nintendo has rolled out a Firmware Update for the Switch console recently. So for those who have been expecting an update this here is a confirmation that it’s available. The new Nintendo Switch Firmware Update is apparently a minor update that brings the console’s system to its version 5.0.1. According to Nintendo, this Nintendo Switch Firmware Update, although is a minor update, it will still improve a lot of stuff in the console. The overall stability of the system will improve significantly but other than that not much has been detailed. We will hopefully know more, once we have the feedback from the users about this new update. PS4 firmware 5.50, unlike some of the more recent incremental updates, actually brings new features to the console. It went into beta about a month ago, but has now launched for everyone. PS4 update 5.50 is a 460MB download, which is a bit bigger than usual but nothing too crazy. As previously revealed, firmware 5.50 introduces several new features, the most significant of which is Supersampling Mode. Supersampling allows 1080p TV owners to benefit from PS4 Pro resolution enhancements in the games that support it. When turned on, it allows the game to run the same way it would on 4K TVs, which brings a sharper image to full-hd TVs. The other big addition is a redesign of the console’s Library tab. It’s now split into two sections: ‘This PS4’, and ‘PS Plus’.
