Expect action to kick off the previous weekend, though, with the weekend of June 8/9 likely to feature plenty of action. It came as a surprise when Sony announced it will skip E3 2019. While the reason why Sony is skipping E3 2019 are obvious but, industry analyst Michael Patcher thinks it’s a bad decision. Speaking with Gamingbolt, Michael Patcher gave his opinion on Sony not attending E3 2019. According to Patcher, this is a one-off and a bad decision on Sony’s part. He added that if Sony thinks the money they spend on E3 press conference is not worth it, then the company is wrong. He noted that Sony will be back at E3 2020 after it realizes its mistake. I think it’s a one-off. I think they made a bad decision. I think they somehow internally determined that the money’s not well spent- and they’re wrong. For the first time in the history of Sony Interactive Entertainment, it won’t be appearing at E3. Sony is going to miss E3 2019, an event where many speculated the company will show PS5 and its release date. Sony skipping E3 2019 pretty confirms the console’s release for 2020. Sony held back many of its new announcements at E3 2018 and mostly addressed previously announced video games like The Last of Us 2, Ghost of Tsushima, and others. Sony isn't coming to E3 2019 in a massive shakeup for both the PlayStation company and the prominent trade show. Sony Interactive Entertainment confirmed the news, which first emerged in speculation based on the company's absence from an E3 2019 press release, in a written statement supplied to Game Informer.
