Destiny 2 is one of those games where it takes weeks to properly analyse, and appreciate, its various systems, quirks, upgrade paths and more. But with Destiny 2: Forsaken, it’s immediately apparent how much has changed, and how intently Bungie has listened, and learned, from its community and its game over the past year thanks to the introduction of new opportunities that should keep you coming back day, after day, after day, etc. These are all important, necessary lessons too. With more games vying for our attention on a daily basis nowadays, from the likes of Fortnite or PUBG to upcoming AAAs like Black Ops 4 or Battlefield 5, Destiny 2: Forsaken does have to up its game. If you know anything about No Man's Sky, you'll likely know it was criticised at launch. For some, what shipped didn't reflect its pre-release promotional material—a backlash that was later investigated and dismissed by the UK's Advertising Standards Authority. With its pre-launch promo in mind, Redmas' Origins mod for NMS Atlas Rises "aims to restore the original vision of the game."On the project's Nexus Mods page, the creator says: "I've restored the original 1.0 biomes, and tweaked them to look like pre-release footage. I've also packed some of my most recent mods from 'Space Adventures'."It's worth noting that Redmas hasn't created Origins as a way of slighting Hello Games, but is instead a fan of both the developer and NMS itself. "I've been following the development of No Man’s Sky since pre-release," reads their Nexus bio. "[I've] always supported Hello Games before and after the release, being a developer myself, I know it must have been a lot to go through … [Read more...] about No Man’s Sky Origins mod ‘aims to restore the original vision’ of the game
Monster Hunter World has a play style for everyone – and it all starts with your weapon of choice. The Monster Hunter series has always been one of the more open takes on character progression in the RPG genre. Rather than picking a character class from a number of pre-set classes, you’re instead given a character who is a jack of all trades, with your skill set, abilities and approach to combat instead defined by what equipment you take into battle, including weapons. These weapons have been showcased in the video above by Arekkz – and we’re going to be breaking down each on this very page as well if … [Read more...] about Monster Hunter World Weapons Guide: which weapon should you choose?

The first time Taylor Kurosaki and Bob Rafei saw a running PlayStation, they were in a Las Vegas hotel room. It was the 1995 Consumer Electronics Show. They, along with the company they worked for, Naughty Dog, were being given a behind-closed-doors look at Sony's first foray into the game console industry. When they describe the event now, they use words like "inspiring" and "enthralled" and phrases like "blown away." They didn't know it at the time, but the members of Naughty Dog in that room — Kurosaki, Rafei and co-founders Jason Rubin and Andy Gavin — were looking at the system that would host the team's next game: Crash Bandicoot. They were seeing the console their company would eventually create the unofficial mascot for — the console they would develop Naughty Dog's first smash hit for. It was Kurosaki and Rafei's second day with the company. Naughty Dog released Crash Bandicoot for Sony's original PlayStation in September 1996. In it, the team took an old … [Read more...] about Crash Bandicoot: An oral history
