A brand new Pokemon - perhaps even an entirely new generation of Pokemon - may have just leaked courtesy of Pokemon Go. PoGo community member Chrales tweeted a sprite of the potential new pocket monster, which was identified in leaked network traffic as Kecleon:Longtime fans may be lifting their finger in protest, about to point out that actually, there's already a Pokemon known as Kecleon. And they're right! There is, but the existing Kecleon looks nothing like this (which means this new 'mon is likely not a variant of the one true Kecleon), and as Chrales points out in a follow-up tweet, the sprite's actual files designate this strange-looking beast "Pokemon 891".Currently, the encyclopedia of all known Pokemon, the Pokedex, ends at entry #807. This has led to speculation the new Pokemon is part of an as-of-yet unrevealed Gen 8, which would theoretically feature at least 84 more Pokemon being added to the Poke-universe.Another theory is that this is the "special Pokemon" you get for … [Read more...] about Pokemon Go may have revealed an entirely new Pokemon and the existence of Gen 8
Pokemon gen 8
Pokemon Gen 8 will officially roll around when the unnamed Pokemon Switch game releases in 2019, it has been revealed. Though this news was expected, The Pokemon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara has now confirmed that brand new pocket monsters will feature in next year's Nintendo Switch game, with Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee set to only feature creatures that have already been established in the Poke-Universe. There has been some confusion over the state of the Pokemon Switch games, with many believing that a brand new game featuring brand new Pokemon would launch this year. However, after the reveal of Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee ahead of E3 2018, Nintendo announced that an unannounced Pokemon Switch game would also release in 2019. It was suggested that this would feature Pokemon Gen 8, though no official word was given. Speaking in an interview with Japanese publication Famitsu (via Serebii), it … [Read more...] about Pokemon Gen 8 Confirmed to Feature in Pokemon Switch 2019
With last night's announcement of Pokemon Let's Go, Nintendo also teased that we should be seeing another core Pokemon Switch game in 2019. This one will be a mainline entry and not just a core game, so it's likely that we'll see gen 8 Pokemon introduced. It's purely speculation, but this would follow the trends of Pokemon's mainline games. While the focus of last night's Pokemon press conference was Pokemon Let's Go and what we should expect to see there, Game Freak and Nintendo also let us know that there's going to be a mainline Pokemon Switch game in 2019. We don't know anything else about this for sure, but there's plenty of room for predictions and expectations. One of those expectations - and a likelihood - is that the 2019 Pokemon Switch game will bring with it the 8th generation of Pokemon. This will likely mean a new region too, as well as a new team of antagonists to have to deal with. If, of course, the 2019 Pokemon Switch game … [Read more...] about Pokemon Switch Will Likely Introduce Gen 8 in 2019
About a week ago, the development team for the forthcoming Pokemon game for the Nintendo Switch posted a job listing for a localization expert to work through the end of the year to bring the title to Western audiences, with some hoping it means that the project will be ready before 2018 is over. Now, it looks as if possible concept art for the release has made its way online that shows off the potential Generation 8 starters for the game. As seen below in the tweet from the YouTuber known as Aero, Pokemon fans can get a look at what are purportedly the Generation 8 starters for the in-development Nintendo Switch title and judge for themselves whether or not the concept artwork is legitimate. If the pieces are indeed real, then it would mean that a Grass-Type Pokemon based on a lemur, a Fire-Type Pokemon based on a rabbit, and a Water-Type Pokemon based on a platypus would be players’ starter choices for the upcoming game. Here we go again. These are the supposed gen … [Read more...] about Pokemon Gen 8 Starters for Nintendo Switch Leaked?
New Pokemon gen 8 starter "leaks" have emerged, reportedly revealing which Pokemon we'll first get our hands on in the eighth generation of the game series. However, upon closer inspection, it seems that our collective excitement should be doused as these are all most certainly fake. The images reportedly began circling around various forums before winding up on Twitter (via @SkinnySnubbull), with the initial thread containing them reportedly being "deleted" (Google image search comes up with few traces of them outside of the Twitter thread). But as is the case with such leaks, the photos have garnered a ton of attention, leading many to believe that these are Game Freak's own creations. There are multiple hints that this isn't the case. Firstly, it seems a little on-the-nose that such important concept art would be framed on a wall branded with a 'CONFIDENTIAL' stamp. Secondly, as pointed out by the Pokemon-focused YouTube account PokeSirena, the Japanese translation of the text … [Read more...] about Pokemon Gen 8 Starter “Leaks” are Almost Definitely Fake
