By Sherif Saed, Monday, 8 January 2018 17:55 GMT The wider a presence digital games gain in the industry, the more digital charts become more and more representative of the what’s popular. The PlayStation Store, being one of the most popular digital outlets thanks to the success of PS4, drops monthly and yearly round-ups of the top most downloaded games. Sony doesn’t reveal hard data, and the titles are never arranged based on total revenue, but it’s something. This year, we have several lists to go through. Why PS4 can and must save PlayStation Vita
Poor PlayStation Vita. It has been the whipping boy of critics and outraged gamers since day one, and with every sales figure update or release schedule revision, many are keen to pounce on the handheld and declare it ‘dead’. Sony’s refusal to release official sales figures only breeds paranoia, and its sparse gaming line-up strongly implies that developers may have given up hope too. Thing is, Vita isn’t dead. It’s just resting its eyes. It’s waiting for the PS4 to unlock so much of that potential locked away inside its hard and software. Make no mistake, PlayStation 4 can save Vita from failure. Sony however, has notorious pedigree in this area, going back as far as the day it stuck a couple of extra buttons on a SNES pad and called it the PlayStation Controller. Don’t get me wrong. SCE is responsible for some of the freshest, most exciting IP seen in this (or any other) generation. And it still has amazing-looking stuff to come on its current-gen console, even at this latter stage of the PS3’s … [Read more...] about PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale: How embarrassing idea-theft sums up Sony’s failings, but is also a smart move
