It’s always something of a weird thing when someone famous turns out to like the same things you do, whether it’s a hot new show that everyone’s watching, or even something that you think might be a niche hobby. In this case, MMA star Ronda Rousey has opened up about her WOW habit. Rousey first gained notoriety through a series of lightning-fast mixed martial arts fights as she made her way up through the rankings, sending a message to sports fans everywhere that she was nothing to be messed with. While stopped short of the championship, Ronda Rousey has continued to show up in other areas, including roles in 2014’s Expendables 3, and 2015’s Fast and Furious 7 and the film Entourage. Rousey wouldn’t be the first celebrity that’s revealed they like video games, however; Kit Harrington is a Call of Duty fan (even before he starred as Salen Kotch in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare), Terry Crews has offered to voice the Overwatch character Doomfist … [Read more...] about MMA Star Ronda Rousey Played World of Warcraft With Vin Diesel

The Republican party are trying to discredit Democrat candidate Colleen Lachowicz because she plays World of Warcraft. Quoting Lachowicz talking about the game, they have made a website and are distributing leaflets saying her comments "raise questions about Lachowicz's maturity and her ability to make serious decisions." More on this below. It's got to that time in the American election process where the claws come out, candidates criticise their opponents upbringing, home life, religion, sexuality, preference for cake over pie, and all manner of things. They pick something they feel the majority of the voters will latch onto: in poor districts they might draw attention to their opponents wealth; in wealthy districts their opponents lack of a second home. The Maine Republican party have opted for the Democrat candidate's hobby: World of Warcraft. In the announcement for their attack on Lachowicz, they suggest it's too time-consuming -"studies have found that the average World of … [Read more...] about Maine Republican Party attack Democrat candidate for playing World of Warcraft; claim she is “living a time-consuming double life”
Have You Played? is an endless stream of game recommendations. One a day, every day of the year, perhaps for all time. No, seriously, have you? And when? And for how long? And did you return? I ask because I have played World of Warcraft [official site] but only for two months, years apart, and treated it more as any singleplayer RPG. I’m interested playing MMOs as non-ongoing things, but realise this is uncommon, so I’d like to ask folks who have played it for long stretches: once you’d seen it all, was it for hanging with cyberpals or a timesink or…?I first played WoW in 2006, shortly before the release of its first expansion, The Burning Crusade, when a pal lent me an unused account for a month. I’d never played an MMO before so it was all very exciting. Hundreds of players! So many levels to gain! A huge world to explore! And… it all felt a bit empty. I joined a guild but the whole game seemed pointless by the time I encountered variants of the … [Read more...] about Have You Played… World Of Warcraft?
Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft has largely cornered the massively multiplayer online role-playing market since its launch in November 2004, boasting a current paid subscriber base of some 11.5 million. However, a number of other MMORPGs have been able to carve out a spot by employing a free-to-play, microstransaction supported business model, including Dungeons & Dragons Online, The Lord of the Rings Online, and a wide variety of Asian titles. So would Blizzard consider a free-to-play model for its already massively successful MMORPG? Maybe, according to WOW lead designer Tom Chilton. As part of an interview with PC Gamer magazine, the veteran game designer noted that having players pay for a $15 monthly pass might not always be the best option in terms of monetizing WOW. However, Chilton also said that the trend toward the free-to-play model isn't necessarily a reaction to WOW. "I feel like they're doing that to compete with other games that are on a similar … [Read more...] about Free-to-play World of Warcraft a possibility
Basically, this is how I would behave if I were asked to attend BlizzCon. I have no clue what World of Warcraft is really about. I've never played the game. I mean, I've played an MMO, but I've never had an account or leveled a character in WoW.Does that make me weird? I'm getting the sense that Conan feels weird on location at BlizzCon 2013. Watch as he gets trolled by players and then quickly becomes the best Arena color commentator... possibly ever.Where should Conan go next? … [Read more...] about Conan O’Brien Heads To BlizzCon To Play World Of Warcraft
