Elden Ring fans have grown increasingly desperate for news of From Software's highly anticipated game, and a leak of what appears to be grainy footage of the game in action has triggered a torrent of memes. On the Elden Ring subreddit, which has become ground zero for the game's increasingly-desperate fans to express their displeasure at From Software's radio silence, the reaction has been divided between unrelenting hype and humorous memes. Wait a minute from Eldenring The Elden Ring subreddit has become increasingly meta in its sense of humor as the wait for the game has continued. For example, the above meme compares a low-definition screencap of a carriage from the newly revealed footage to the carriages from a photoshopped screenshot of Bloodborne Kart, a non-existent game that has become a meme unto itself in the community. Other top posts in the subreddit poke fun at the footage's highly questionable video quality. Another popular post compares a tree seen in … [Read more...] about Fans React To New Elden Ring Footage With Memes And Hype

GTA Online Mod Cuts Long Loading Times By 70%
A modder has figured out how to significantly reduce the notoriously long loading times for GTA Online on PC. While the method is still just a proof of concept, it does seem to lead to a sizable improvement. PC Gamer reports that modder tostercx uploaded their fix to GitHub and explained why it works. Essentially, they say, the normal load sequence for GTA runs a new check every time it finds an entry in the 10MB JSON file, leading to almost 2 billion checks. This mod optimizes those processes, which reduced the load times on their own computer by roughly 70%. Tostercx doesn't recommend this mod for casual use, but says it should be possible for Rockstar to implement similar fixes in the actual game. Like many mods, using it could result in a ban or other action from Rockstar. Load times in GTA Online have been a consistent community complaint for years. GTA V and especially its online component, GTA Online, has ballooned in scope over the last several years, as Rockstar … [Read more...] about GTA Online Mod Cuts Long Loading Times By 70%
Bungie’s Trademark For “BungieCon” Has Resurfaced
A trademark that Bungie originally filed in 2020 is making the rounds again this week, prompting speculation that the Destiny studio may have plans for its own convention. Bungie's trademark for "BungieCon," which was originally filed in summer 2020 , covers all manner of products, including jewellery, trading cards, pants, and boots, along with something more befitting its name. The Goods & Services description states that BungieCon could apply to the "organizing and conducting [of] fan conventions in the fields of video and computer games." The connection people are making here is that Bungie has plans to hold its own fan convention. This potential idea is further bolstered by the news back in 2017 that Bungie had trademarked "DestinyCon." If Bungie is indeed planning a fan convention, that might explain the other Goods & Services descriptions for things like jewellery, trading cards, and clothing. It's not uncommon for those types of things to be sold at a … [Read more...] about Bungie’s Trademark For “BungieCon” Has Resurfaced
Bungie Confirms New IP To Launch By 2025 And Plans To Expand Destiny Into “Additional Media”
Destiny developer Bungie has big plans for the future. The company has re-confirmed its plans to launch its mysterious new IP by 2025, while the company is expanding the physical size of its Bellevue, Washington office and opening a brand-new publishing outfit in Amsterdam. Additionally, Bungie has teased plans to extend the Destiny franchise beyond games, while there has been a leadership shakeup on the development team as well. New IP Bungie said it plans to launch a new IP before 2025, but nothing is known about this game. In 2018, the Chinese internet company invested $100 million into Bungie to help the company make non-Destiny games, so this new IP might be one of them. Bungie CEO Pete Parsons first mentioned his hope of releasing the new, non-Destiny IP by 2025 back in 2019, but this is the first time Bungie is cementing that hope in writing. Bungie has promoted Jonny Ebbert to chief creative officer and Zach Russell to general manager of incubation to work on … [Read more...] about Bungie Confirms New IP To Launch By 2025 And Plans To Expand Destiny Into “Additional Media”
Pokemon Legends: Arceus fan theory may explain why Cyndaquil, Rowlet, and Oshawott were chosen as starters
The excitement of the 25th anniversary Pokemon Direct that took place last week is yet to wear off and has led some fans to begin speculating about the upcoming titles. According to a user known as u/ZeeGee009 in the Pokemon subreddit, the reasoning behind Pokemon Legends: Arceus ' starter Pokemon can be traced back to 12th century Japan. Given the game's reveal trailer, that makes a lot of sense, as this game's version of the Sinnoh region belongs to a much older time period. This theory points to the connection between the starter Pokemon: Cyndaquil, Rowlet, and Oshawott, their evolutions, and feudal Japan. u/ZeeGee009 firstly points to Rowlet having links to Archers due to its evolution Decidueye’s ‘Arrow Quill Pokémon’ status. They also point out that Oshawott’s evolution, Samurott, is “very clearly Samurai” focused. As for Cyndaquil’s connection, which the Reddit poster notes took “a while to figure out”, they propose that not only is the Pokemon based on a … [Read more...] about Pokemon Legends: Arceus fan theory may explain why Cyndaquil, Rowlet, and Oshawott were chosen as starters
