Disney Dreamlight Valley, a life-sim adventure game developed by Gameloft Montreal, has been announced for console and PC. Set in the titular Dreamlight Valley, it'll be up to you to restore a town that was once home to Disney and Pixar characters before an event known as the Forgetting made the area uninhabitable. In a PS Blog post , game manager Manea Castet added that the game has adventure elements, quests, exploration, and other activities to engage in across a story-driven campaign. "Disney Dreamlight Valley brings customization and personalization to not only your character but also Dreamlight Valley itself," Castet said. "Design the Disney and Pixar village of your dreams across multiple unique biomes. Outfit your village home with a plethora of interior decor items like Frozen-inspired antique kitchen designs and spice up the village with your personal creative touch, unlocking new items as you play through the game and build friendships with your Disney and Pixar … [Read more...] about Disney Dreamlight Valley Announced, Brings Life-Sim Adventure To PC And Console Later This Year

Remedy Is Remaking Max Payne 1 And 2 For PC, PS5, And Xbox Series X|S
A remake of Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne is coming from Remedy Entertainment. The studio behind the original Max Payne games has reached an agreement with Rockstar to remake both games for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The remakes will come as a single release using the Northlight game engine, which was used for Quantum Break and Control. You shouldn't expect it to come anytime too soon, though, as the announcement notes it's only in the concept development stage. "We were thrilled when our long-time friends at Remedy approached us about remaking the original Max Payne games,” said Rockstar founder Sam Houser, in the announcement. "We are massive fans of the work the Remedy team has created over the years, and we can't wait to play these new versions." Max Payne was notable for its neo-noir setting and bullet time gameplay, which became a mainstay in several other games of the same era. Lost Ark Continues To Battle Bots, Millions Banned Already
Developer Smilegate has posted a new update on Lost Ark and the continuing fight against bots that plague the game. The studio acknowledged that while there's still plenty of work to be done, it has managed to successfully purge the free-to-play MMORPG of several million bots. Accounts that had participated in botting, hacking, or gold selling had been discovered and banned, and other improvements include a level-gated area chat to keep brand-new accounts from spamming gold-selling advertisements. Additionally, Smilegate has updated the game's automatic chat moderation to pick up on lines and phrases commonly used by gold sellers, changed the reward structures of quests and events to add a stronger deterrent against using bots to farm gold, and have blocked IPs from regions that have shown large amounts of bot activity. "While each of these tactics has shown some measure of success in removing bots from the game, our work is far from over," the studio wrote in a blog post . "We … [Read more...] about Lost Ark Continues To Battle Bots, Millions Banned Already
Lost Ark For Console? If Fans Make Enough Noise, Amazon And Smilegate Would Consider It
Smilegate's popular MMO Lost Ark is doing big numbers on PC, but could it ever come to console? Amazon Games boss Soomin Park said in new interview with VG247 that nothing is off the table. If fans make a clamor for Lost Ark on console, then Amazon Games and Smilegate would consider that feedback and factor it into their plans. That said, there are no guarantees. "If Lost Ark on consoles is something that fans really want, then I think it's something both parties would consider!" Park said. Amazon's other recent big PC MMO release, New World , also released exclusively on PC with no plans to launch on console. Lost Ark's FAQ page has an entry pertaining to possible other platforms. It says, "Will it only be on PC?" And the answer is, "Yes, Lost Ark is only available on PC." Smilegate's other recent big release, CrossfireX , is available on console, so the South Korean studio has a history of supporting platforms outside of PC alone. Lost Ark had about 450,000 peak … [Read more...] about Lost Ark For Console? If Fans Make Enough Noise, Amazon And Smilegate Would Consider It
Disney Dreamlight Valley Is More Than Animal Crossing In Mickey Mouse Ears
When Disney Dreamlight Valley was announced , I found its intersecting parts of Disney, the farm-life sim genre, and a free-to-play model to be exciting. With a fair in-game economy and gameplay that keep genre fans coming back, the Animal Crossing-like could have the potential to become a hit with players of all ages--but that microtransaction question loomed large. After spending an hour with the Gameloft development team and checking out a hands-off demo, I'm heartened to have seen a pay model without uncomfortable caveats, making me more confident Dreamlight Valley will be well populated by fans of the genre and brand alike. On the surface, Dreamlight Valley appears to be your typical farm-life sim--even its name seems determined to recall imagery of Stardew Valley, one of the genre's most beloved games. I arrived to my demo wanting to find out if this other valley could provide a similar mix of relaxing gameplay mechanics such as farming, mining, and socializing. It does … [Read more...] about Disney Dreamlight Valley Is More Than Animal Crossing In Mickey Mouse Ears

I tried a $12 gaming mouse and didn’t hate it
PC gaming accessories can regularly run you into three-figure prices, but for all the flashy marketing, futuristic sensor names, and "revolutionary" switch revisions, a gaming mouse can only do so much for the everyday player. I've had my hands on plenty of the best gaming mouse models lining the shelves, but when I stumbled upon a pointer that came in at just $11.99 / £12.99, I was intrigued. What are we actually gaining by spending over $100 / £100 on a clicker, and how would a super cheap gaming mouse actually compare? Into the basket it went, and I've just spent two days playing and working exclusively with the Havit RGB Gaming Mouse. So, do you need to spend more than $15 on a rodent? No - but also, yes. I'll explain. Havit gaming mouse | $11.99 / £12.99 at Amazon The Havit gaming mouse carries a particularly budget-friendly price tag. At well under $15 / £15, it's an excellent in-between option, or a cheap pointer for anyone looking to play casually … [Read more...] about I tried a $12 gaming mouse and didn’t hate it

Dune’s new-gen open-world survival game resurfaces with new details
Funcom has revealed a few more details on its open world survival game set in the Dune universe, which will be the studio's "most ambitious project yet." The devs are currently referring to this as the "unannounced Dune survival game," which was previously confirmed as part of a three-game deal between Funcom and Legendary Entertainment signed back in 2019 . The game will be set on Arrakis, and will be focused on multiplayer. Similar to other recent informal game announcements, like Blizzard's survival game and the mobile Call of Duty: Warzone spin-off, Project Aurora , today's announcement seems to be more an effort to recruit new developers than news meant to get players excited. A few more potential details are nestled in those job listings. An Associate Game Director listing notes crafting systems, and the Lead Gameplay Programmer ad notes that the game will be developed on Unreal Engine, with planned releases for PC and console. The World … [Read more...] about Dune’s new-gen open-world survival game resurfaces with new details
