The Nvidia GTX 1060 has been very popular with budget gamers and it is the most bought card in the 10 series. The Nvidia GTX 1160 should have similar pricing and will target the same people. One of the major selling points of the next generation graphics cards is the support for ray tracing but it seems that the upcoming Nvidia GTX 1160 might not support real-time Ray Tracing. AdoredTV talked about how Nvidia is going to rebrand the upcoming next generation 1180 and 1170. They will not be under the GTX branding but under the RTX branding. This is what Nvidia uses to signify Ray Tracing. It is interesting to note that while the top tier models are being rebranded as the RTX 1180 and RTX 1170, the mid-range and entry-level models still use the GX branding. It is possible that the support for ray tracing will only be available to top-tier graphics cards including the RTX 1180 Ti that will be coming out at a later date. If you were hoping to get Ray Tracing support on a … [Read more...] about Next-gen Nvidia GTX 1160 Might Not Support Real-time Ray Tracing

Nvidia likes to keep pushing its GPUs with new tech every generation and this time around it seems that Nvidia will be pushing its next-gen Nvidia GTX 1180 even further with AI rendered realistic Hairworks model along with Nvidia RTX. Researchers at the University of South California, Pinscreen, and Microsoft have come up with a technique to render hair for in-game characters using machine learning. The system can apparently render 3D hair from a 2D reference image and this could potentially be used by next-gen Nvidia GTX 1180 to render realistic hair for in-game characters. Given Nvidia’s history of pushing Gameworks in AAA PC titles such as The Witcher 3, Final Fantasy 15, The Division and more, it seems likely that the company will be pushing the AI based Hairworks rendering in upcoming video games as Nvidia is already pushing its Real-Time Ray Tracing in games such as Metro Exodus. Realistic hair modeling is one of the most difficult tasks when digitizing virtual humans. In … [Read more...] about Next-Gen Nvidia GTX 1180 Might Use AI To Render HairWorks Models In Upcoming Games
Next-gen GPUs are currently the topic of discussion among gamers and hardware enthusiasts and Nvidia is apparently in no mood revealing them. However, leaks and rumors have suggested that next-gen Nvidia GTX 1180 will be available in August 2018 and now a new report has emerged suggesting that a next-gen Nvidia GTX 1160 variant of Lenovo Legion Y530 Gaming will be available during the holiday season. There's surely not long to wait now. After two years with Nvidia's 10-series GPUs based on the Pascal architecture, we're finally due an upgrade. With several sources strongly suggesting a July launch date, Nvidia's next 'GPU King' may well be just around the corner, but what specs will it have? How powerful it be? In a market notorious for its often-accurate leaks, it's actually surprising how little we know, but there's enough information out there to at least give a broad overview of what we can expect.First of all though, it's worth commending Nvidia on just how tightly its next-gen GPU line-up has been locked down. Even the name of the new series and the upcoming flagship remains unconfirmed. A GTX 1180 to kick off an 11-series product line-up? Or a GTX 2080 with a brand shift to a 20-series? In a world where specs often arrive months before release, even the name of the new line-up is unknown right now. Certainly, there's been nothing like the Pascal production line leak that … [Read more...] about Nvidia GTX 1180/2080 specs and performance: what should we expect?
Nvidia are expected to be the only tech crew to drop brand new gaming-focused graphics cards on us this year, with the GTX 1180 likely to be the vanguard of a new generation of GeForce GPUs. Or maybe it’ll be named the GTX 2080 in favour of a more bombastic marketing opportunity... right now we still don't know. Nvidia haven’t yet announced the naming, let alone the architecture, behind their next generation of gaming cards, but we’ve still got a pretty good idea of the technology that’s going to be powering them and when they’re likely to arrive. While there's been a lot of talk about the possibility of a new Nvidia Turing architecture being the basis of the new GeForce cards, we’re still expecting the green team to stick with their usual modus operandi and launch either the GTX 2080 or GTX 1180 cards using the same Nvidia Volta architecture they’ve been working on for the last few years. You’ll need a … [Read more...] about Nvidia GTX 1180 or GTX 2080
