The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 is a popular upper mid-range graphics card, around 35 per cent faster than the mainstream GTX 1060 but around 20 per cent slower than the enthusiast GTX 1080. Despite its status in the Nvidia stack, the 1070 actually outperforms the last-gen Titan X Maxwell and GTX 980 Ti, demonstrating how far we've come in terms of GPU power in the last few years. As things stand, the GTX 1070 is one of the best graphics cards to pair with monitors that exceed the usual 1080p and 60Hz standard, such as higher resolution 1440p monitors or high refresh 144Hz displays. It can also be a good choice for other scenarios that require just a little bit of extra graphical grunt, such as VR gaming or monitors with an ultra-wide 2560 by 1080 resolution. It's overkill for 1080p60 gaming, but the most extreme games running at max settings may still require this level of horsepower. Different people will have different ideas about what represents a playable or ideal frame-rate, so the … [Read more...] about Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 benchmarks: a well-balanced card for 1440p gaming

The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 is the most popular graphics card in the world, at least according to Steam's Hardware Survey, and it's easy to see why. This affordable card offers strong 1080p gaming performance, usually delivering console-quality full HD graphics at double the frame-rate. The card is also cheaper than its closest competitor, AMD's Radeon RX 580, and offers significantly stronger performance than its younger brother, the GTX 1050 Ti. That made the GTX 1060 an obvious pick for our roundup of the best graphics cards on the market. However, it's hard to know exactly how good it is without seeing some real life tests - and that's exactly what we're offering here. We've tested both the 3GB and 6GB versions of the GTX 1060 in a range of in-game benchmarks, stacking them up against three competing cards: the Radeon RX 570 and RX 580 from AMD and the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti from Nvidia. It's worth noting that all of the Nvidia cards are standard reference models, but there are no … [Read more...] about Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 benchmarks: the best video card for 1080p gaming
There's surely not long to wait now. After two years with Nvidia's 10-series GPUs based on the Pascal architecture, we're finally due an upgrade. With several sources strongly suggesting a July launch date, Nvidia's next 'GPU King' may well be just around the corner, but what specs will it have? How powerful it be? In a market notorious for its often-accurate leaks, it's actually surprising how little we know, but there's enough information out there to at least give a broad overview of what we can expect.First of all though, it's worth commending Nvidia on just how tightly its next-gen GPU line-up has been locked down. Even the name of the new series and the upcoming flagship remains unconfirmed. A GTX 1180 to kick off an 11-series product line-up? Or a GTX 2080 with a brand shift to a 20-series? In a world where specs often arrive months before release, even the name of the new line-up is unknown right now. Certainly, there's been nothing like the Pascal production line leak that … [Read more...] about Nvidia GTX 1180/2080 specs and performance: what should we expect?
Nvidia GPUs have been here with us for as long as we can remember. But how did it all start and where did it start from? If that is something that you are interested in then this is what we are going to talk about here. Nvidia NV1 Nvidia took off back in 1993, but the company did not have its first product until 1995, the NV1. The GPU was very innovative for its time and could handle both 2D and 3D video. Other than that the Nvidia NV1 was used in the Sega Saturn game console. The NV1 used PCI interface with 133 MB/s of bandwidth. Other than that the graphics card used EDO memory clocked at up to 75 MHz, and the card supported a resolution of 1600×1200 with 16-bit color. After the success of the Nvidia NV1, the company started on working on a successor for the graphics card, the NV2. There were a few disagreements with Sega, because of which Sega took a different route and the NV2 was canceled. Nvidia NV3 / Riva 128 The Nvidia NV3 came out in 1997 and turned out to be more … [Read more...] about Evolution of Nvidia GPUs in Last 20 Years, From First to the Latest

These changes are checked into the main driver branches, which are eventually run through a massive QA process and released. Since we have so many changes being checked in, we usually try to align driver releases with significant game or product releases. This process has served us pretty well over … [Read more...] about Nvidia’s GeForce 376.48 hotfix drivers improve stability in Battlefield 1 and Just Cause 3
