After quite a long absence, Nokia is quickly trying to establish itself in the USA, and they are continuing their push by offering the Lumia 822: a budget but feature packed Windows Phone 8 device on Verizon’s LTE network. While the Lumia 822 may lack the one-two punch that its bigger brother the Lumia 920 delivers on AT&T’s network, the 822 is a great way to start turning the masses away from Android and the iPhone. Nokia was kind enough to supply me with a Lumia 822 for this review, and after using the device for the past week, I am now able to share my thoughts and feelings about the device. First, let’s take a look at the hardware. Don’t judge a phone by its cover First impressions go a long way when it comes to many things in life, and these days, not even smartphones are exempt. To be completely honest, the Lumia 822 is not one of the best looking phones in town. Don’t get me wrong here, the design is perfectly fine and functional, but … [Read more...] about Nokia Lumia 822 Review: Nokia Makes a Triumphant Return to Verizon
Nokia microsoft phone review
Having attended Microsoft’s big Windows Phone 8 announcement event at the end of October, I was excited to see what the company had in stock for its new mobile OS. I had previously reviewed the Samsung Focus 2, which used Windows Phone 7.5 – essentially a prelude to WP8 that shared a similar look but had nowhere near the same amount of features that the new OS offers. Needless to say, Microsoft introduced among others, two flagship smartphones – the HTC 8X and Nokia Lumia 920. Fortunately for us, Microsoft was able to provide an HTC 8X for us to take through its paces and what we’ve discovered is that the 8X is one helluva phone, with a very cool OS to boot. First, we’ll delve a little bit into the OS itself, before running down the device’s overall performance. For starters, we have the Live Tiles, which is the big hook to WP8 and Windows 8 for that matter. The Live Tiles allow users to pin just about anything to the … [Read more...] about Tech Review | HTC 8X Windows Phone 8
The mobile industry has become the battleground of tech giants and new brands bragging different specs and features and showcasing its uniqueness. But, Microsoft has made its plans to enter the ring and give customers a different option with their Microsoft Surface Phone to be released in 2017. Microsoft, the tech giant that acquired Nokia last April 2014, is speculated to end Lumia series following its cancellation of the rumored Microsoft Lumia 750 release. This is clearly seen now as the company has initially announced its Surface device products like Surface Book, which earned good reviews from the tech community. According to Trusted Reviews, Microsoft Surface Phone is rumored to run in Windows 10 OS like the Surface Pro 4 tablet has. The company targets professionals to use its Surface Phone since the … [Read more...] about Microsoft Surface Phone Release Date, News & Update: Tech Giant’s New Smartphone Targets Professionals; Plans To Compete With iPhone?
By: Mark Walton, GameSpot UK - Posted on September 20, 2010 With the release of the iOS 4, the latest version of the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad operating system, Apple launched Game Center, a free online gaming service. It brought features similar to Xbox Live, such as friends lists, achievements, and online multiplayer to its mobile devices. Coupled with the thousands upon thousands of great quality games available on the App Store, Game Center is off to a strong start, with millions of users already signed up to the service. Microsoft has followed suit with the launch of Windows Phone 7, bringing most of the Xbox Live experience to mobile devices. It has the advantage of having an established user base from the Xbox 360 and PC that might be eager to gain achievements and access accounts on the go. Plus, with an already loyal developer base developing for Xbox Live Arcade eager to make the jump to mobile, the company has a number of great titles available on the platform. … [Read more...] about GameSpot’s Guide to Mobile Gaming: iOS, Android, Windows Phone 7
LAS VEGAS--There are those who believe that Microsoft will drop the mic in its final 2012 Consumer Electronics Show appearance, after bringing down the house with the first official word of the oft-rumored Next Xbox. This speculation comes despite the Xbox 360 still being the dominant console in North America, from both a hardware and software sales perspective. While a full console unveil is a bit of a long shot, Microsoft is likely to have a few announcements up its sleeve for CES 2012. As it pertains to the company's Xbox division, updated statistics for its console and the Xbox Live online network are safe bets, along with new initiatives on bringing original television to its entertainment box. And on the fringe of possibility, Microsoft could use its limelight to trot out a new hardware iteration for the Kinect. Unofficially dubbed the Kinect 2, the device is said to be sophisticated enough to read lips. Rumors also suggest that the motion-sensing peripheral can assess a … [Read more...] about Microsoft ends CES keynote run with Windows 8 focus
