In its third year of post-launch support, Rainbow Six Siege continues to defy expectations as its popularity and player base have broken new milestones. Following on the heels of Operation Chimera, Ubisoft has revealed that the second season of content in year 3 is going to focus on Italy and its famed Gruppo di Intervento Speciale unit. While Operation Para Bellum won’t have a new co-op mode to replace the zombie-inspired content from the previous season, Para Bellum adds two new Italian Operators as well as a map based in a beautiful villa. After releasing a couple of teaser trailers, fans now know exactly what the two new characters are bringing to the game. To balance out the roster, both Italian operators joining the Rainbow Six Siege roster are defensive characters, and each one brings a unique a gadget with them which is surely going to shift the current meta. First up is Alibi who is able to place three holographic decoys. While they can’t hurt opposing … [Read more...] about Rainbow Six Siege Reveals Unique Gadgets of Italian Operators
This weekend saw the world's best Rainbow Six Siege players battle it out in the game's 2018 Invitational tournament - and Ubisoft was on hand to detail what was next for the game. Lots of people play Siege. Rainbow Six Siege has, if you've not already heard, quietly become one of Ubisoft's biggest games. This weekend, Ubi boasted that Siege now had 27 million players (although it's unclear how many of these come from free weekends). "We've communicated already a couple of times that our vision for the game is to bring it to 100 operators," Rainbow Six Siege brand director Alexandre Remy said at the event. "Today we have 36 operators. Year 3 will bring eight [more]. That 100 is a symbol of the longevity we want to have for the game. "We are saying extremely loudly here - there is no sequel planned. We will be here for the next 10 years. So expect more Rainbow 6 in your life for quite some time." The journey from Siege's origins as a slightly-underwhelming boxed game to today's … [Read more...] about Rainbow Six Siege “will be here for the next 10 years”
Ubisoft has finally shown off gameplay from the new “zombie mode” of Rainbow Six Siege, running through the Outbreak event in great detail during the 2018 Six Invitational. Rainbow Six Siege fans have been waiting months to see how Ubisoft would reveal its first post-launch player-versus-environment cooperative experience, which features both a cohesive storyline, cutscenes, and 3 separate co-operative missions. As detailed by Rainbow Six Siege technical director Irvin Dos Reis, a parasitic outbreak occurs in the town of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, where a Soviet capsule launched 40-50 years ago re-enters the Earth’s orbit and crash lands in a local junkyard. The entire town has succumbed to the infestation, with only Team Rainbow preventing the outbreak from spreading to neighboring towns and beyond. The Outbreak event will only run for 4 weeks and is free to play for those who own Rainbow Six Siege, though players might be tempted to splash some cash on … [Read more...] about Rainbow Six Siege Outbreak Event Detail Breakdown
Next month Rainbow Six Siege gets two new operators, the first of eight due as part of the Year Three Pass. The newcomers, Finka and Lion, have a few things in common. They're both attackers, they're both part of a new "CBRN" (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense) unit, both are 'middleweights' with two armor and two speed, and both of their special abilities are global (Ubisoft's descriptor), meaning that they affect the whole map upon activation. They also both rely on timing and coordination, and have the chance to be especially useful at lower skill levels. Here's a closer look at them based on my time playing Operation Chimera over the weekend in Montréal. FINKA Finka's a potentially powerful support. Her Adrenal Surge grants every living teammate 20 temporary HP for 20 seconds, and has three expendable charges. The HP can't stack, due to a cooldown on the ability, but it's a perfect buff for giving your whole team an edge in survivability before they … [Read more...] about Everything you need to know about Rainbow Six Siege’s next two operators
