The Cthulhu Monster Pack is playable with both King of New York and King of Tokyo but does require one of them to play. Check out our King of New York review here and our King of Tokyo 2nd Edition review here. The monster pack contains the Cthulhu monster board and figure, and also the evolution cards for both King of New York and King of Tokyo. One of the evolution cards, which is extremely thematic, is “Dread Tentacles”, it works the same in KoT and KoNY and allows you to put a madness token on monsters you damage. Maness tokens reduce the flexibility of your opponents roll and doesn’t allow them to re-roll dice up to the amount of madness tokens they have. For example, if a monster has 3 madness tokens, the player will first roll three dice first that can’t be re-rolled, then the last three dice as normal. The Cthulhu Monster Pack adds a new building to King of New York and a new unit to King of Tokyo and King of New York. In King of Tokyo, if after … [Read more...] about Cthulhu Monster Pack Review – King of New York / King of Tokyo Expansion
The King Kong Monster Pack is playable with both King of New York and King of Tokyo but does require one of them to play. Check out our King of New York review here, and check back next month for our updated King of Tokyo review. The monster pack contains the King Kong monster board and figure, and also the evolution cards for both King of New York and King of Tokyo. One of the evolution cards, which is extremely thematic, is “It was beauty who killed the beast,” which brings into play a double sided card that gives King Kong an extra dice roll each turn if he has the card. However, if King Kong is dealt damage, the card is flipped over and given to the player who damaged him, and is only returned when King Kong damages that player in return. While this doesn’t have a huge affect on the game, it is very in-keeping with Kong and adds a lot of fun into the game. 3 of the 8 available evolution cards for King Kong. The white bordered cards are for King of Tokyo, the black … [Read more...] about King Kong Monster Pack Review – King of New York / King of Tokyo Expansion
The King of New York Power Up! expansion requires King of New York to play. Check out our King of New York review if you want to know more. If you already have King of New York, read on. The King of New York Power Up! expansion adds a new monster, Mega Shark to your King Of New York games. It also adds a missing component from the core game, adding a unique feel to each playable monster. In the core King of New York game, the monsters are only differentiated by their looks in the cardboard figure you use to represent your monster in-game. Power Up! adds a set of eight evolution cards for each monster. The evolution cards give each monster a unique evolution ability that can be played at any time, unless specified by the card. You gain one card at the start of the game and more if you roll three hearts during your turn. This makes each monster feel and play slightly differently, which has a huge impact on selecting your monster and also encourages you to play different monsters to try … [Read more...] about King of New York Power Up! The streets of New York City are going to be painted in blood red when John Wick: Chapter 3 finally hits theaters next year. According to a new report from Collider earlier today, the official synopsis has surfaced and pretty much confirms what we already surmised would take place in the upcoming sequel. John Wick: Chapter 3 will pick up right from where the second installment left off and have the eponymous hitman running for his dear life. John Wick (Keanu Reeves) broke a central rule by killing Santino D’Antonio (Riccardo Scamarcio) inside the Continental Hotel and hence, has now been marked as “excommunicado” — all membership benefits (including protecting) and access to other members terminated. With a staggering bounty on his head, the “f**king nobody” and his beloved dog will attempt to escape the city alive, killing anyone who gets in their way. In that light, the upcoming movie is probably taking place entirely in New York City. John … [Read more...] about John Wick: Chapter 3 Synopsis Teases Bloody Escape From New York City
