Google Play may not have Epic Games’ Fortnite, but the Android mobile game storefront is still a big deal in the mobile games industry. It’s home to thousands of games, many of which are family-friendly titles designed to educate or entertain younger audiences. However, an investigation by Wired has found that Google Play may be promoting many violent mobile games to children. The report reveals that games like Mad Max Zombies – a shooter which features gruesome gameplay and zombies spurting blood – has been rated as Pegi 3. The Pegi 3 rating (from a European ratings system) would mean that the game is suitable for players over three-years-old. Another grim mobile game with a Pegi 3 rating is Baby Panda Dental Care. Activision and Tencent are bringing Call of Duty to mobile devices in the West with Call of Duty: Mobile, a free-to-play game that will draw inspiration from the Black Ops and Modern Warfare franchises. Call of Duty: Mobile is being developed by Tencent’s Timi studio for Android and iOS devices. Activision promises competitive multiplayer modes from the Call of Duty franchise, including Search and Destroy and Free-For-All, on series staple maps like Nuketown, Crash, and Hijacked. Call of Duty: Mobile players will be able to “earn and unlock classic Call of Duty characters, weapons, scorestreaks and other gear to equip and customize their loadouts,” Activision said in a press release. I think there are 3 primary things to consider. At least these are the questions that I asked myself. Over 100 countries have proven that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds still has a lot of fans, now that the PUBG mobile game has released. The game, which has now reached mobile devices like iPhones and Androids, though there’s no indication of how many players it actually has yet. We’ll probably find out later. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has always been a popular game ever since it was first released back in early 2017 on Steam’s Early Access page. With millions and millions of installs and players, even the release of Fortnite’s own Battle Royale mode hasn’t dampened it much.
