7 Days to Die is a voxel space game like Minecraft. However unlike Minecraft, the ground blocks, sand, ore and stone are smoothed so they blend into each other and hills and tunnels appear more rolling and smooth than the blocky Minecraft style. When you create one of these blocks, you get an octahedron shape object but when you place it, it fills in a smoothed area covering a whole block. I want to implement something like this in my Unity game. What kind of algorithm can I use to smooth out my blocks, making them blend into each other? … [Read more...] about How can I smooth my voxels similar to 7 Days to Die?

In the absence of a clear breakdown, The Division 2 players are looking for any information they can get regarding the game’s mysterious season pass. The Division 2 season pass is in a bit of a special situation. Because developer Massive proudly revealed at E3 last year that all content coming to the game in Year 1 will be free for all layers, the existence of a season pass confuses many. The pass itself was revealed shortly after E3, but Ubisoft never officially detailed what it entails. Though it’s not yet available for purchase separately, considering the price of the game’s Gold Edition, it’s likely going to cost $30-40. This price isn’t outrageous, but since the publisher is happy to give all content away for free – why buy it in the first place? Ubisoft has yet to answer this question definitively, but players recently noticed a small update to The Division 2’s page on the Ubisoft Store. Towards the bottom of the page, there is a single … [Read more...] about The Division 2 early season pass description touts 7-day early access to post-launch content
For a limited time, EA is giving away access to a seven-day trial of its Origin Access Basic program on PC and all you have to do is ask. Origin Access Basic gives players the ability to play over 100 games for free, as well as access to 10-hour trial access to EA’s newer titles. To get your free trial, all you need to do is get on Twitter and send a direct message to the EA Help account using the #TRYBFV hashtag but you’ll need to do it soon. This offer closes at around 9 a.m. ET on December 1. You may also need to be patient as it seems EA is responding to messages manually rather than using some kind of automated system. It’s also worth having a look at the EA Help account before you message just in case something has caused the giveaway to stop or be postponed. Once you have your code, you should just be able to enter it to get in on the Origin Access Basic program. What you do with it for the next seven days is up to you but the obvious intention here is to … [Read more...] about EA Giving Seven-Day Trials of Origin Access Basic Away for Free

Black Desert Online is a "buy-to-play" MMO with purchase options ranging from $10 to $50, and a free 7-day trial for people who are curious but not convinced. Starting today and running until October 17, Pearl Abyss and Kakao Games are presenting an interesting challenge to trial players that, if successfully completed, will grant them permanent access to the game, for free. Any players who can take a character to level 56 and complete the "awakening quest" before the 7-day trial expires will be given a free Starter's Package, which normally sell for $10/£8/€10. It doesn't include any "extra content," like a horse, Elion's Blessings, or House Furnishing Coupons, but it does provide permanent access to the game on either North American and European servers. I have no idea how much effort it takes to reach level 56 in Black Desert Online, but it sounds more like a step in the process than an end-game goal. Characters who reach the level are given an "Awakening … [Read more...] about You can get Black Desert Online for free, but only if you can reach level 56 in one week
