Nintendo platformer New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe sold 25 per cent more boxed copies during its Nintendo Switch launch week than it did on Wii U. It's enough - in a very quiet January week - for the game to top the UK chart in terms of physical copies sold. Nintendo has topped the chart with a first-party Switch game three times previously (with Smash Bros., Mario Tennis Aces and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe). According to Chart-Track data, NSMBU Deluxe sold more than Mario Tennis during its launch week, but less than Smash and Mario Kart. As ever, digital sales are not counted. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is a re-release of the original New Super Mario Bros. U and its Luigi expansion. Oh, and it introduces the troubling Peachette, but you probably knew that already. The only other new launch last week was Tales of Vesperia, which arrived in 11th. The full top 10 lies below: New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe FIFA 19 Rootin' Tootin' Cowboy Shootin' 2 Blops 4 Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Mario … [Read more...] about New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe launch sales 25% higher than on Wii U
Mario party 2 wii u
Super Mario Party, the latest offering in the Mario Party franchise from developer NDcube, is less of a sequel and more of a soft-reboot. In addition to abandoning Mario Party’s titular number scheme, Super Mario Party ditches the convoluted and often disappointing gameplay mechanics of some of the franchise’s previous titles. Folks that moaned and groaned about being forced to travel around in a car with their opponents in Mario Party 10 for Wii U or not being able to play a minigame after each turn in Mario Party 9 for Wii can breathe a sigh of relief—Super Mario Party offers a vibrant, much-desired return to the franchise’s origins. Super Mario Party’s main mode (aptly titled “Mario Party”) leads the charge in trimming the excess fat off of the franchise’s past missteps and getting to the heart of what made past Mario Party games so enjoyable. Following the formulaic, evergreen outline of a classic game of Mario Party, Super … [Read more...] about Super Mario Party Review — A Masterful Return to Form
In catching up with games we’ve skipped over or set aside, it’s important to pay tribute to entire platforms shoved over into a forgotten corner and covered in dust. You know ... like Wii U, the least successful Nintendo platform this side of Virtual Boy. Unlike Virtual Boy, though, Wii U saw a lot of best-in-class games; they were simply squandered on an unappreciative world. At least Nintendo recognizes the gold mine of content it has lurking in the cobwebbed wasteland that was Wii U. Nintendo has been quite proactive about converting lost Wii U classics to Switch — most recently with the charming Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. It could go further, though. There’s so much more to be salvaged from the flaming wreckage of the Wii U! To help, I’ve selected the 11 Wii U games that absolutely, 100% still need to make their way to Switch. These are all top-flight works just begging to enjoy the light of day on a console people not only own but are proud to … [Read more...] about The 11 Wii U to Switch ports we need immediately
Nintendo Switch has been on the market less than 11 months, but it has already outsold its predecessor, the Wii U. Around 12.13 million Switch units were sold during the nine months ending December 31, 2017, with 2.74 million sold during the hybrid console's debut month last March.Overall, this means 14.87 million Switches had been sold by the end of December last year. As of October 31, 2017, Wii U hardware sales stood at 13.56 million. Barring an unlikely 1.31 million Wii U consoles being sold in November and December, this means the Switch has almost certainly outsold the Wii U. More up-to-date sales figures for Wii U have not been provided.Switch sales are now not too far off those of the Gamecube, which sold 21.74 million, but they're still far behind those of the ultra-successful Wii, which reached around 101.63 million units sold.Nintendo has also confirmed that Super Mario Odyssey is the console's best-selling game to date. The platformer sold 9 million units up until the end … [Read more...] about Nintendo Switch Outsells Wii U In Just 10 Months
For a large proportion of the last year, the more hopeful hardcore have been operating under the belief that the Wii U is a completely different kind of console to the Wii. We've been working on the assumption, cultivated by Nintendo, that the Wii's successor would be much more similar in culture to the Nintendo machines of old. Goodbye casual party crap, hello AAA good-times. But the thing is, despite the extra horsepower, I don't think the two machines currently are too dissimilar if you look at their respective early game line-ups. In fact having played a bunch of the Wii U's early games, I've spotted quite a few parallels between the two. Some are obvious, some are slightly more abstract, but there are certain game types and demographic-baiters that blatantly crop up in both launch-window line-ups. So much so, that I decided to make a comparison feature out of them, so that I could answer the most important question here. Is the Wii U a real change for Nintendo, or an HD … [Read more...] about Wii U vs. Wii: Are their games REALLY that different? And if not, which one does them better?
