Warframe, the cooperative shoot-and-loot space ninja game, is about to get more of all of the above. Developer Digital Extremes announced an all-new open-world zone – purportedly five times bigger than the Plains of Eidolon – at the third annual TennoCon. But the most exciting announcement came at the end of the Warframe-centric convention. Code named “Railjack,” the free expansion will let 1-4 players pile into a spaceship and seamlessly take their battle to the stars. Once airborne, squads must cooperate to manage shields, repairs, and weapons while engaging in ship-to-ship combat. It sounds a lot like No Man’s Sky meets Star Trek. Except that players can also board enemy ships using Archwings (Warframe’s jetpack equivalent). In theory, Railjack marries the free-to-player shooter’s many styles of gameplay into one cohesive whole. That new open zone also sounds promising. Fortuna, as its called, is set on an icy and mushroom infested Venus. … [Read more...] about Warframe to add hoverboards, seamless spaceship battles
In 2008, aged 16, I signed for Lewes FC. The club was in ascendancy: newly promoted to the Conference, we had a new stand at the stadium (later paid for by selling our best players, but that's another story), a new Under 18s coach, brought in from the Brighton and Hove Albion academy just down the road, and a new intake of what was, genuinely, the best squad of non-academy players in the south of England. Most of them came from professional academies like Brighton, Bournemouth and Southampton, some released at the big jump from Under 16s to Under 18s, others who had the chance to carry on but turned it down (and if you're wondering why they might reject something as fabled as an U18's contract - known as a "scholarship" - at a top club by the way, it's probably because that contract entitles you to the sum total of about £60 a week, mandatory residence in "digs" and a BTEC in Sports Bullshit that you have to take instead of college). Some, like yours truly, came from non-league … [Read more...] about I was in Football Manager and I don’t know how to feel about it
A MAJOR Apple supplier is giving the California firm a discount on iPhone tech – but will that means customers can look forward to cheaper smartphones? One expert told The Sun it's unlikely that Apple will pass the savings (which could more than £17 per phone) onto Brits. Apple smartphones are notoriously expensive to buy. The top iPhone X model will set you back an incredible £1,149, thanks to its powerful hardware. But Apple is about to make some healthy savings on iPhone models thanks to Qualcomm. Qualcomm is a US tech company that makes smartphone parts, and invented lots of essential phone technologies that let your handset connect to mobile networks. So when phone makers build their handsets, they have to pay Qualcomm a fee so that the handset can connect to a phone network. Qualcomm made loads of money from this thanks to the way it charged phone makers like Apple and Samsung. Rather than setting a flat rate, Qualcomm has been charging Apple a percentage of the … [Read more...] about Are iPhones about to get CHEAPER? Apple gets big discount from major supplier
ELON MUSK has tweeted that he's building a cyborg dragon, whatever that means. The Tesla and SpaceX chief offered no explanation about the barmy invention. Let's pause for a second and break that down literally: a cyborg is a being with organic and mechanical body parts, and a dragon is a mythical animal usually portrayed as a scaly, fire-breathing serpent. Definitions aside, we're still no closer to getting to the bottom of this blunt, but also strangely cryptic, tweet. Musk has played with fire before, building a Boring flamethrower (which takes its name from the droll title of his tunnel-drilling firm) and flogging it for £355. All 20,000 units of the insane (and wholly irresponsible) tool were snapped in just four days. Oh btw I’m building a cyborg dragon— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) April 25, 2018 He's also taken to Twitter to unveil Boring hats and Tesla tequila – so is this cyborg dragon just the latest in a line of Musk merch? And will it be available to the … [Read more...] about Elon Musk says he’s building a ‘cyborg dragon’ – should we be worried?
